Audi A4 Voted Europe’s 2008 Auto 1 Award Winner

Audi A4 Voted Europe’s 2008 Auto 1 Award Winner
The all-new Audi A4 Saloon has been voted Europe’s Auto 1 by readers of Auto Express Magazine and its 25 Europe-wide sister publications. The overall winner’s trophy was presented to Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Board of Management of Audi AG, during a ceremony at the Geneva Motor Show this week.

The overall champion in the annual Auto 1 awards is selected by editors, experts and racing drivers linked to the 26 magazines, but their 40 million combined readers also play a key role in the judging process. As a result, Auto 1 is an excellent indicator of the general consensus towards a car, and Audi performance within it is of great importance to the brand.

Built on a completely new chassis with longest-in-class wheelbase that not only maximizes driving appeal but also boosts cabin space, the new A4 Saloon is a major step forward over its predecessor in every area. It opened for order in September 2007 and the first examples are now being delivered to UK customers.

In Geneva this year, the successor to the sought-after A4 Avant also made its world debut, combining increased carrying capacity with all the attributes that have helped the A4 to triumph in the Auto 1 Awards. The all-new A4 Avant opened for UK order on March 3rd and first deliveries will begin in June. Saloon model prices range from £19,890 OTR for the 1.8 TFSI 120PS to £32,445 OTR for the 3.0 TDI quattro S line, and Avant models start at £22,600 OTR for the 1.8 TFSI 160PS SE, rising to £32,800 OTR for the 3.0 TDI quattro S line.

Wait until the S-Line model comes out. I saw the A5 S-Line at the auto show, and the rear kit is INCREDIBLE.

It deserves it.

Things like this just bid up the price for me. I liked it when the Audi was the oddball in neighborhoods teeming with BMW's, MB's, and the like. I was the first in my neighborhood with an Avant, then an Allroad, then a Q7, etc. Now that my alternative automotive tastes are being adopted by the masses the prices skyrocket. So much for the $360./month lease I had on my '04 A4!

Huh? Audi still sells less than a third of what BMW and Lexus sell in the US.

I understand your comment. It depends where you live in the US. In certain parts of LA seeing and Audi is getting pretty commonplace, especially the big Audis. So, yes Audi sells much less than BMW or Lexus, but their strategy of focusing on the their best markets in the US is paying off in concentrated efforts.
