well not to trash Audi but Audi is essentially a division, BMW is a company. With that said of course they are using the resources of their parent company and its other divisions to produce these new cars and current models, through sharing of parts, and other costs that an Independent company must mount on. So BMW is doing well as an INDEPENDENT COMPANY not just a division

Audi is not a division. There is an Audi AG and a VW AG. That is the difference. "AG" is a corporation in Germany. There is no equivalent Lexus corporation, Infiniti corporation or Acura corporation. They are all DIVISIONS of Toyota, Nissan and Honda.

My sales estimates for Audi in the US in 2020:
50 states
40 models
52 weeks in a year

I think one vehicle sold per state per model each week is aggressive that's about 104,000 per year. The more models the more sales!

It is not possible that in this day and age somebody can be that ignorant when it comes to the automobile world and at the same time pretend to be an enthusiasm.

Audi is a company, with it's own CEO, board and all. Audi was bought in 1964 by VW, but kept its headquarters, factories and all.

Not the case for the japanese brands, all CREATED, by their respective brands.

BTW, if it was not for Audi profitability since 2000, VW would have gone under.

i hope they mean a range like this-
A3, S3, A4, S4, RS4, A5, S5, RS5, A6, S6, RS6, A7, S7, A8, S8, R8, R8s, Q3, Q5, Q7....

And not this-

A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, A6, A7, A8.........A39, A40!

and by this i mean that they have 10-15 models with their own trims versus 40 models with their own trims.

In a city (like Philadelphia) with strong unions and corrupt politics, garbage men actually make a pretty decent living.

Where i'm from, the garbage men get:

1. the very best healthcare plan available (BC/BS)
2. unlimited overtime opportunities
3. automatic yearly raises
4. they make triple-time pay whenever they have to work on Saturdays, Sundays, or Holidays
5. they make triple time pay when winter storms come and they need to salt and plow the streets in addition to the normal trash pickup.

you should think twice before you put down the garbage man. i know a couple of guys that work for the sanitation department, and they already drive BMWs and Benzes (not small ones either, but 7-series and S-Class)

If you're a guy in your 20s or 30s without a bunch of kids to feed, then you can live very comfortably on a sanitation department wage, at least where i'm from.

Aren't all big cities like that? Around here, getting a city job is a good deal. I know a guy who works for the corrections department as a guard at the city prison complex. His base salary is $48k, but he earned $65k in overtime pay alone last year. He took home $113k from the city last year. That ain't bad for a corrections officer!

I think there is no more space left like A3,A4,A5,A8 are all covered. Therefore they are certainly seeing A1 and A2. That's bad. I think Audi should go no lower than the A3 and make no R class, viano...etc competitor.

and also Isn't that the job of VW? Lupo, Golf, Polo, Scirocco..etc. There should be no Audi versions of these cars.

I never considered models within a trim line to be there own. A BMW 3 series for example has the 335, 328, the c for convertible, the m3 etc. That is one model with different trim lines, not separate models in my eyes.

So for Audi I see the A3, A4, A5, A6, A8, Q7, R8, TT so far.

That's contradictory. Wouldn't a hybrid/diesel model be the same as comparing two A4s with different gas engines? It's still an A4, but with a hybrid or diesel, or hybrid-diesel.

I think Whelan is correct. Engines, and engines alone, will determine the number of models. Not CONFIGURATIONS (A4 2.0T vs. A4 2.0T quattro S-Line, same car), but truly different vehicles (A4 2.0T vs. A4 3.0TDI).

I love Audi but 40 models. That's crazy. Audi should make their cars more reliable and better looking. Audi should train their employees at their dealers to be more approachable. Then Audi should help VW, Afterwords both companies should produce more cars.

Audispy, I can see that point, that the S and RS would be different, as the M for BMW is different as well. Seeming as I consider the SRT version of a car for Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep to be a different model as well.

40 more Audi models?! Audi should instead focus on training its dealership and sales support network (customer service), focus on improving reliability and restructuring the pricing of its line up -Audi's depreciate like rocks.

I would venture that "40 Models" means different drivetrains for specific models. I do not think there will be an A40 for example. Within each line of models you will have different versions (i.e., R8 V8, R8 V10, R8 V12 TDI and so on).
