Rent a Covette for $165 per day

What's a Covette? I figured Corvette. Can't wait till I have a vacation coming up, I plan on getting something nice this time around. Maybe I'll skip Hertz and pickup a Vette.

Hertz have had Corvettes in their Rental Lineup from as far back as 2006 November when I Got to Miami {Probably had them even before then}.

I Rented it for 2 days, found it to be rubbish, switched it for the Black & Gold Mustang 500 thingy they also rent, that was even more rubbish, settled on the A6 3.2 which i ended up keeping for 4 months.

Warning: Hertz is not very cost friendly
Corvette in miami int Airport Hertz cost me $225 a day and the A6 3.2 $1110 a week {AND THAT WAS THE DISCOUNTED RATE}

Also:
Book/Reserve a "Luxury Vehicle" and then Upgrade to the "Prestige Vehicle" you require as you get Unlimited Mileage in the Luxury Categories and below while you only get 100 Miles a day in the Prestige, when you reserve a luxury and upgrade the unlimited miles go with you.

Oh and I would def. pay the $15 insurance coverage for the day, just to keep it off my tab if something did happen.

if you use your MasterCard or Visa to rent, they will cover any liability expenses. If you have full coverage on your own vehicle, it should extend to the rental. rental car insurance is a rip-off.

I guess anyone who would rent a Corvette would do so to test its performance limits. Tire wear alone could easily amount to a few tens of dollars. $165 fee for daily rental is fair for a vehicle that is likely to get abused.

Whelan, I always pay the extra for full insurance coverage if I am only renting for a day or two as the administrative headache of having to deal with an insurance claim otherwise would exceed the cost of insurance. For longer term rentals, one is better off to rely insurance that one's credit card company provides if you use their credit card to pay for the rental.

You're absolutely right. My driving style suddenly becomes much more abusive when i'm in a rental. it's not my car, what the hell do i care?

you can't imagine how fun it is to drive a car aggressively, knowing that you are not responsible for any long-term maintenance or repairs.

guys even with the insurance money, if rubber is worn or if you get a bump on the body, you'll have to pay for that. I know, because my rented chevy malibu got hit, and i had to pay for the damage, even though i paid the insurance coverage earlier.

Then what the hell did you pay for? you must have gotten the coverage with the deductible limit, which makes you responsible for all damages up to a predetermined dollar amount (usually $3000), and the insurance would cover anything beyond that

Huh did not know that i had a deductible of 3000 dollars, because my whole trunk and back bumpers were crashed, and i had to pay about 600 dollars. I was using enterprise, not HERTZ.

Considering the mustang shelby or regular mustang convertible runs $129.99/day at Hertz, this isn't a bad deal.

I would go and try out the Hertz GT-H Mustang, but there is still a waiting list for the one in NY.

I don't like the Corvette.

That is like making a $4,950 monthly payment on the thing.

think about it this way-- 1) who will want to buy this Corvette after it's been rented for 6 mos to a year? 2) what would it be worth, especially considering how badly a vette (or any other higher-end vehicle) depreciates the first year.

Maybe the 4950/month would make sense then, taking away their insurance costs & other operating costs for the car, including all those tires!

I still like S4's math better.

The article didn't mention it, but I'm certain there are mileage fees in addition. I don't know what it will be for the Corvette, but most exotics are $0.50 to a $1 per mile. It adds up quickly.

i went through new tires every 3 months on my m3, i cant imagine what will happen on the vette ....

Old people will rejoice when they want to take a trip out of town or are suffering a mild second mid life crisis for a day.
