BMW planning 2012 3-series tii
During the 1970s the 2002tii helped put BMW on the performance map, especially in America where the car quickly became a much sought after classic. The three letters ‘tii’ were synonymous with lightweight construction, improved dynamics and more performance, but over the years the importance of the model was forgotten.

Now, BMW is considering doing the same for its next-generation 3-series sedan due in 2011. Like the 1-series performance range, developers are planning to introduce carbon-fiber parts, new aero kits, larger wheels and brakes, sports bucket seats and steering wheels and new LED instrument clusters.

Why would a company need 'stunning design' to compete with Lexus? Lexus does not offer stunning design.

GoObama has point. BMWs are degrading with cheaper cars but why not just wait 2 years and buy a used BMW for couple grand. I mean...Lexus is #1 on re-sale value for a reason. Its stuff GoObama mentioned so precisly about the Lexus's bullets.

Lexus makes really nice Toyota's. Do not compare a Lexus to a BMW. Lexus makes well built Buick's that are quiet and soft but they are not performance cars. Drive an IS 350 and then a 335i. Only someone who knows absolutely nothing about engineering and driving would say that the IS 350 is nearly as good as the 335i. Do not continue to get in over your head by making your silly Lexus arguments. You continually make yourself look foolish by doing so and noboby takes you seriously.

Why does BMW wait until 2012 to bring the 3-series Tii out? Why can't they bring it out now?

GoObama: "More brand image cheapening."

Is that why Lexus is working on a 1-series competitor?

It seems to me that Lexus is competing with the Germans, not the other way around...
My wife has a GX470. Nice truck, luxurious, yada, yada. I have a 325i with sport package. She only wants her vehicle to start, drive and bring her back home. I want mine to be an experience. That's the difference between Lexus drivers and BMW drivers.
By 2012, I may be ready for a tii myself, and give the 325 to my drooling son.
