BMW did 3.8 billion Euros in profit in 2007.

maybe this explains why the VW brand is struggling here?

I was under the impression that the Q7 sales was doing poorly in the USA.

I have been in New York for 6 weeks now and the damn things are Everywhere.

{Q7 had below 1,500 miles when i took it out and i returned it with over 5,300. G35 had 209 miles when i took it and returned with 2,620 so id like to think i really got to know the vehicles}

Had the 3.6L version Q7 for 3 weeks and loved it, Superb Sound System, Great Panoramic Roof, Rear-Backup Camera System in Addition to Front&Rear Radar Works a Treat, Always love how terrified people look when i reverse quickly into a spot and stop less than 2 inches from their front bumper without ever bumping them {Could not do it at that speed without the camera} Who says parking aids are not necessary ??
Engine was OK, enough power to get you up to speeds without getting impatient, engine revs freely, gearbox acted up a couple of times during hard driving in Sport Mode but otherwise Great Vehicle.
Ride is not as Sure Footed as in the X5 but considering this was the Low End 3.6L model i will wait until i have driven the 4.2L S-Line to compare.

The G35 was truly a suprise, I have driven the previous model sedan and liked it a lot but the New one's Power levels borders on the ridiculous, Engine is a Gem, Exhaust system needs to be tweaked though as it rattles at approx 5500 rpm {Noticed it on both New Model G35s ive had}
Sound system in not so great, Steering wheel controls are quite unusual in their setup.Gearbox is a bit too keen to be on the lowest gear so high revs takes a bit of getting used to. No heated seats as standard is not cool IMO but i did get the BRILLIANT KEYLESS GO SETUP.
One useful thing i found out you can do with the G35 is with the engine running you could exit the vehicle and push a button located on both front doors to lock the vehicle and leave it secure, then return and push the same button to unlock the door and get in, useful for the quick runs into Starbucks while in the City.

My only major gripe with the G35 is the Tyre or suspension setup does not give me much confidence on the high speed bends, Twice Now ive had to ease off the Gas Pedal because the vehicle just felt not stable enough, Granted this was at above 110mph while racing a CLS 55 once and the next a 335 Coupe the next but maybe the G35 S might be a better vehicle to drive to make a final decision

For the Price, if I had limited Funds I would definately choose the G35 over the BMW 335 or S4 as the Performance is only slightly lacking and the Options you have to pay for in the Germans are Almost all Standard in the G35 and what and Engine.

I know, I've driven a friend's 2008 G35 sedan a few times, it's a fantastic car.

Avoiding the MotorTrend M3, C63, IS-F comparo.

And gets WOOPED by 4.4 seconds in lap time by the M3.

Uh, nowhere in the BMW article does it say they cracked the BILLION dollar or euro barrier for 2006 or 2007... Like Audi did..

really? First two sentences of the article:

"As well as achieving new sales volume and revenues records in 2007, the BMW Group also achieved its earnings target for the year, reflecting the continued success of its business strategy.

Profit before tax, at euro 3,873 million (2006: euro 4,124 million), was 6.1% down on the record level achieved in the previous year."

So, either you didn't actually check the article, you can't read, or you don't understand that a "thousand million" is a billion. I'll let you choose.
