The Spies had their first chance to sample the new VW Jetta, a little over a week ago at the press preview in America's finest city, San Diego (I know, we're prejudiced, it's our town!).
The new Jetta is impressive.
There has been some controversy over the new design but we can definitely say it looks much better in person and when you see it driving on the road.
Interior quality was excellent and the car is larger inside than the previous car.
And it's a good value for the money. You get quite a bit for just under $19K with destination.
This is THE most important car in their lineup and it HAS to perform.
It's a lot of car for the money but does it have what it takes to turnaround the recent woes at VW?
WE say no but not becuase the car isn't good or better than the last car.
It is.
It's better in everyway.
We liked it a lot.
But the momentum is not in VW's favor and Toyota and the others are just too strong for anyone to slow them down.
We wish VW great success with the new car but we hope they realize they are in one mother of a heavyweight fight!
