Exclusive-First pics and details of a new Daimler-Chrysler SUV

Here are the best spyshots of the Jeep Commander that will be introduced next week in New York.

Is it just us or does this thing look like a Jeep Cherokee Classic gone wrong!

Inside word from our dealer contacts is that they are pretty disappointed with the design as well.

The Spies were told from an anonymous dealer that when they were at the dealer meeting were it was introduced, they thought it was a joke when they brought it out saying that this was it!

They thought another truck would surface a few minutes later and it would be a big joke.

When nothing was shown, they finally realized that this REALLY was the truck.

They told us the room got REAL quiet after that.

We're also told that this truck will be platform for the next Mercedes G-Class.

I can only imagine that the MB side of the house is having too much input on design relative to the Chrysler/Dodge side. This vehicle is so not hip!

Obviously Jeep saves millions of dollars in development costs on their new vehicles by simply not taking them to wind tunnels. What a loaf of bread!

I had respect for the design of the 99'-05' MY Cherokee, but the new one doesn't seem a worthy successor. Now this Commander?

Their designers obviously lack imagination. And M-B Bashers comments on possible MB influence? Get real. The new ML is a curvy and modern shape.
This, I'm sorry to say, isn't.
