Spellchecker001 the wise, please share with us your extensive knowledge on Lexus as to why the Lexus for that matter not a single Asian brands aren't on the list? I would really like for you to convince me and everyone by sharing your thoughts on this.

"Hey, you wanna hear a joke?"..in reference to spellchecker001's future commentaries. The fact is he is a joke all by himself by losing every grain of little credibility he had left .000001%

I really feel sorry to see so many American cars on this list, crap!!

Also not a single Japanese car, this is a further prove that for the rest of car companies to learn from the Japanese.

No,

It's proof that throughout history the Japanese car companies haven't taken any dramatic risks in design, engineering or niche markets, so it's hard to fail why you don't try.

The Japanese have had their fair share of bad cars, it's just no one remembers them.

And 'worst' is questionable. The FIAT Multipla was ugly, but it won many awards for its clever interior packaging (which Honda copied) and car-like handling.

It's unfair to have it on the list.

The 2002 7-series is hardly a 'bad' vehicle either, it just has challenging looks.

So what exactly is this list of, then?

Oh I know, a lesson in stirring by nicehomer.

Hey Homer, I like this line:
"European junks"

With grammar like that, I'd question if you even had an education.

Exactly. There's nothing really wrong with any of the cars listed, that's why I take it with a half of a half of a quarter of a third of a grain of salt. That, plus consider the source; hardly automobile experts.

idiots!

CR has rated the LS460L at 99 out of 100, the BEST VEHICLE they have ever road tested. even the vaunted german trio only got to the high 80s, low 90s.

and this does even factor in the Frequency of repair and Reliability issues. which puts ALL toyota products EVEN FURTHER ahead.

Zundapp! did they also used to make motorcycles?

until the auto industries in ALL COUNTRIES recovered from the war (1950s for u.s., 1960s for most), there were few to no TRULY bad cars. as you say, ANY car was a luxury for most people.

taking the long term view, compared to say 1890, there truly are NO BAD CARS made today! none whatsoever!

there is just a RANGE of excellence, where even average is good, and the best are truly exceptional and extraordinary!

so let's ALL back off from being so critical of anything not from your favorite brand. (if i myself lapse from this, it will be ONLY in response to a biased basher.)

The LM002 was an awesome car! What other SUV can be had with a Lambo V12??
And the 7 series wasn't bad, just ugly.
The Multipla was very clever, 6 seats in a car shorter than a VW Golf - amazing packaging, with car-like handling and economical diesel engines.

Least reliable ever built? Please don't give me that crap.
Those cars had computer failures, as expected on brand new computer technology.
Do they fall apart? No
Do they creak and rattle? No
Seriously, the 2002 7 was not a horrific car, it had bugs, which can be fixed.

I cant believe anyone would be dumb enough to judge an entire model line based on THREE cars. I suppose I shouldnt be surprised though, seeing as this IS autospies....

A little common sense goes a long way, so try using some. Just because one, two, three, ten, however many cars have problems doesnt mean they ALL do. BMW has been comfortably above industry average in reliability for YEARS, and improves yearly. If they were as bad as you freaks try to make them sound, they would be dragging the bottom of the list, or at least declining.

tattedtwicetattedtwice - 3/27/2008 2:44:00 PM

See, this is where common sense comes in. I know there are some brainless buyers who cant make up their own minds and need an outsider to do it for them and hold everything from consumer reports to be gospel. But, Ive said it before and I'll say it again, you can NOT judge an entire model lineup based on a FRACTION of owner responses. There are upward of 100k 7'ers on the US road-none of these studies counts for ALL of them.

There are people who had problems with the new 7, that is undeniable. But do you know what else is fact? Not EVERY owner has had problems with them-we certainly havent with ours otherwise I wouldnt waste my time on someone like you. If I were the type to assume all cars in a lineup were bad based on knowing of or hearing about a few common problems, I could easily call acura unreliable, based on all the dealer visit m/t and c&d's longtermer required.

mindless garbage is what posters like czlinski and spellchecker posted here not me. If u don't agree with my picks as one of worsts so ok. i don't care. u can very well consider them the best.

and remind u in the times magazine's list there are many cars with whom many don't agree especially 7 series, Hummer H2...etc. These 2 are hugely popular cars.

but still they don't care. For them it's the worst. it meets their criteria for being the worst. same with me.

I've driven every model of the A-Class, B-Class when I worked for a Mercedes dealer and also the BMW 1-Series (my sister owns a BMW 118i) and there's nothing bad about them. So I am going to agree with Erich H. and ask you WHY you say these are bad cars?

You've never driven them so don't talk about them. You don't see me making negative comments about cars I've never driven.

I totally agree with the list but I am iffy on the 02-04 7-series. While I always knew in the future it would be headed for BMW junkyards instead of showcases, it was break through vehicle setting new standards for a new age.

That said the design was awful (However I love the refreshed model) as it was obviously experimental to a certain degree, the electronics; mainly the i-drive were hugely un-reliable leaving everyone with a bad 1st impression of the system that lasts to this day.

IMO the 02' 7-series belongs on this list as much as it would on a list naming the 50 most ground breaking vehicles of all time.

really guys. check out consumer reports. (it is unbiased) look at the ratings: not a single mb car was reccomended to be bought. why? because theyre unreliable. they spend a lot of time in the repair shop. plus, consumer reports sends out a vehicle survey to over 1 million ppl and asks them questions about cars they have owned. not one lexus was deemed unreliable.

i am just reporting the facts, so dont shoot me down. read CR for yourselves.

btw, CR tested the s class against the ls460 and guess who won? of course the ls!
unlike the mb, the lexus controls are USER FRIENDLY. ppl can actually use the controls. and bmw's iDrive? what an embarrassment to the company.
the ls460 was rated 99 out of 100. s class? around 85.
and guess which car was 2007 world car of the year? lexus ls460.
CR said the 7 series "misses the mark as a competitive luxury sedan."

again im just reporting the FACTS. i didnt make any up, ulike some ppl...

In any comparison that has to do with driving, the ls stands no chance. Case in point, its LAST place finish, behind cars all older in C&D's comparo. And dont get me started on how M/T TRASHED the ls6. It may be something 'special' to the freaks and geeks at cr, but in the real world this thing is just a bigger, cushier camry, nothing but a soulless appliance.

oh and guess what. consumer reports has a top luxury sedan category in their annual "top picks". for 2005 and 2006, the infiniti m35/45 won. s class didnt come close. (for one, it was deemed 'unreliable') for 2007 the ls460/600h won. again, the s class didnt come close. the m35/45 came second, at 97 out of 100.

yes, i am simply reporting facts.

The ls is certainly no beauty. Id imagine no one even looks twice at it since at a glance it looks like a camry. Personally if I were given one, it wouldnt be in my possession longer than an hour; however long it takes to complete the trade of it on an A8 or 7 series.

"the ls460 was rated 99 out of 100. s class? around 85."

and this, is based on comprehensive ROAD TESTS.

done by auto ENGINEERS at CR.

contrary to popular belief, CR tests are strictly objective; their writers simply happen to be more staid than other scribes. what some call "handling" and "magic feel" they just call "accident avoidance capability."
