Photo Renderings: 2010 Audi A6

Audi’s A6 hasn’t seen a major facelift or redesign since its complete makeover in 2005 by designer Walter de’Silva. The 2005 A6 even raked up the World Car of the Year award. Well now its time for some changes and based on these latest photo renderings, the 2010 Audi A6 is due for a total redesign.

As seen in the pictures, the rear-end will take major design influence from the latest Audi concepts we’ve seen at auto shows including the Audi Cross Coupe quattro, the Audi Cross Cabriolet quattro and the Audi metroproject quattro. The 2010 Audi A6 will also get slightly redesigned front fascia with a new bumper, new healamps, new rectangular fog lamps as well as bigger air-intakes.

I like it. It's got smoother lines than the current one. The headlights kind of have a 5 Series thing going there. Looks good, though.

I think that the fender-climbing headlights aren't so much a BMW emulation as they are indicative of a trend that's been growing in the past decade. All around, it looks great. I'm curious about whether or not they'll include the LED day running lights like they have in the R8 and the RS models...

Either way, this is another award winner (especially if they keep that luxo-sport interior)

I like the front end of the rendering but I hate the rear. They might as well make it more like the A5/S5 since it's already so similar.

It looks good though. I can't wait until the S6/RS6 comes out too! Let see what they have in store for us.

The GS has stolen many design cues from the german competitors. So saying the Germans copied Lexus is pure ignorance.
Did you also know that the Audi A6 and BMW 5 are recommended by your favourite magazine,consumer reports, while the GS isn't?
The BMW 5 and the Merc E outsells the GS by a wide margin...even in America.

Based on these renderings, the new A6 looks like a larger version of the new A4, which is not a bad thing. However, I suspect that Audi will do something with the actual production version to make it a little more different from the A4.

I agree--as much as I love the look of the A4, Audi will do something more interesting than this for the next A6. Like the Merc E-Class, A6 has enjoyed something of its own design scheme next to its cousins.

Audi's 265-270 3.2 V6 FSI ValveLift engine is actually quite a fantastic power-plant. Its horsepower, torque and economy figures outclass all other engines in its displacement range (3.0-3.2 liters) running on the same peak RPM. By the time the C7 A6 debuts in 2010 expect the 3.2 to get slightly higher displacement and roughly 300hp in output.

Also note that Audi so far manufactures 2 engines that are on Ward's Top Ten Engines list. The 200-270hp 2.0T FSI and the 350-420hp 4.2 FSI V8. Saying that "Engine development isn't an Audi strong point" just shows you are clueless when it comes to automotive knowledge.

Audi uses the same V6 that its been using for the last 4 years. Now in 2010 you would expect Audi to have a new engine for the A6 but no. Audi will use the same 7 year old engine in a brand new 2010 vehicle. If that's what you call engine development I'd advice you to take a look at other brands.

The 2.0t is an OK engine (there isn't a 270hp version BTW) but the 4.2 FSi v8 is a gas guzzler. 11mpg engines do not impress me.
