The next 8 years: Future products for Jaguar and Land Rover

Now that the Jaguar and Land Rover sale is final, Tata has guaranteed at least the next 5 years of existing product plans. The total amount to be paid in cash by Tata Motors for Jaguar Land Rover upon closing will be $2.3 billion. As part of the transaction, FoMoCo will continue to supply Jaguar and Land Rover with powertrains, other vehicle components and a variety of technologies such as environmental and platform technologies. Ford also has committed to provide engineering support, including research and development, plus information technology, accounting and other services.

on the surface this seems like a great move for ford, they are getting paid up front, and then they will supply jag and LR with parts, so they will continue to make money as a supplyer.

the only problem i see here is that they are supplying LR and jag with ford parts.

The ford parts they are referring to are for the LR2 and x-type(europe). The XK, XJ, and XF do not use Ford parts. Even the S-type stopped using Ford parts after 02. Jaguar's (100% Jaguar design) AJ-V8 is built at Ford's Bridgend engine plant. Jaguar parts are ordered through Ford's accounts with the suppliers. Unless you consider parts from ZF and Denso to be Ford parts. That's what they mean by Ford will remain a supplier of parts. It's a bit misleading.

An the aluminum shop is located at Jaguar's Castle Bromwich plant. DEW platform is not built by Ford but by a third party. Developed mostly by Jaguar engineers in Coventry for use in future Jags and Lincolns but Ford took all of the credit for it.

This is really sad. Tata owned Land Rover and Jaguars will surely have a negative effect on image and prestige. Especially buyers here in Middle East will now check and will have a lot of questions before buying new Land Rovers espcially from new managment.

and btw i also fear now people don't start calling Jaguar and Land Rover as rebadged Tatas and futher tarnish these great brands reputation, image and prestige.
and those junk boxes(Tatas) as rebaged Jagaurs. OMG

All three companies put out crappy cars...Ford, Land Rover, and Jag!...wouldnt buy anything with any of those parts attached to it!....Rovers look good but are mechanical pieces of crap, Jags are pieces of crap, and Ford....uggghhh....sorry hope i dont offend anyone.

Wow Jaguar is in the top 5 in initial quality 6 it has placed 1st twice since 1999. It had the eighth best long term reliability since 2004 among all 36 major car brands.

It is the most reliable European Luxury brand for the last 7 years.
