This is an unsafe practice these cities should be be under investigation.

Very unsafe. It changes driver behavior causing them to slam on their brakes at intersections thus increasing the likelyhood of a rear end collision.

They should include Atlanta on that list. Yellow light times around here sure feel short too.

Shorter yellow light times mean more people wont make it accross the intersection in time. That means intersections equipped with cameras will catch those who made it accross a little too late and TICKET and FINE them for "running a red light" more unfair tickets = more profit/revenue for the City.

In Dallas most of the intersections were 3.5 to 4.0 seconds until you get to one with the camera then it was around 3 seconds.

If you got in a rhythm by timing your driving between lights you get caught every time.

They sure could. Though it is a task most people will not bother with.

So when I get ticketed for speeding or running a red light I get admonished for being wreckless, a menace, and irresponsible. So the "City Government" engages in behavior that increases the potential for accidents all in the name of revenue and there's nothing wrong with that. How the hell are we suppose to take the laws seriously when some of the biggest law breakers are the ones who wrote the damn thing to begin with!!!

I guess when your the King you can walk your own walk and be the biggest irresponsible menace you wanna be!

There have been many studies on those in power and their behavior and what you say, while it is tongue-in-cheek, is actually true. Those in power do what is called compartmentalize risk. In addition, those who are entrusted with the public good and believe themselves to be doing the moral good, such as legislators, district attorneys, law enforcement officials etc., are in fact some of the most morally corrupt people in society. It has been proven that these people are MUCH more likely to lie, to cheat and to engage in other inappropriate behavior than other people. These studies really should not surprise anyone, those who desire position of power in particular over other people betray their illness- that is a borderline sociopathic trait.

Glad to see that profits come in above public safety. And people wondered why people resist arrest so much. Who is the real law breakers?

Does not surprise me at all. I just hate lights that are on timers. So basically I am wasting gas idling because the stupid light stays green for lanes that have no one running through them.

They say that cops do not have quotas but that is BS. When a city is in the Red they will let it be known that the city's Cops better distribute more tickets.

i remember florida at the DMV course many moons ago that the officer mentioned each yellow light is exactly 4 seconds long.

what they say from actuallity is far different...the light by house would be lucky to havea 3 second yellow, much less 4 seconds

and btw, most major intersection in Fort Lauderdale, FL area (Univ Dr & Pines Blvd/Flamingo Rd & Pines Blvd) can barely be crossed if doing the speed limit of 45/50 mph. Btw these are about 8-10 lanes in total.

And quota's are definitely a real thing...how else woudl the city generate income to meet such payrolls? Taxes doesn't offer the amount necessary, at all!!!

Hmmmm government trying to get more money at the cost of people getting hurt. What a big surprise. That just goes to show you that the some Governments could care less about you’re well being. If it’s this the law that the yellow lights need to stay on for a certain amount of time and somebody willingly shortened this time or was told to shorten the time, either way these people need to prosecuted. There playing with people’s lives.
