Porsche’s head of sales and marketing, Klaus Berning, said that Porsche will only offer the Americans a Cayenne diesel if they overcome their reluctance to buy diesel cars. Berning said that Porsche is looking for U.S. buyers to switch to diesel cars in big number to make it economic for the company to launch a diesel car on American soil.

^^^Not exactly correct, nice you are holding on to the past and have not learned about the new diesels. Yes the oil companies are trying to screw the Diesel industry by making it more expensive than Premium Gas. Main reason is said to be the fact that new Diesel fuel is more refined and made with much less sulfer. Also new Diesel cars/truck have a very efficient catalitic converter that runs so hot it dissolves the majority of harmful emmisions from Diesel engines.

This may be offset if Auto industry makes very Diesel efficient cars. Still seeing Diesel costing $4.29 in my area is not helping the cause :-(
