Mercedes McLaren SLR Roadster production ending next year, SLC on the way
With the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren coupe already out of production since the end of 2007, the SLR McLaren Roadster’s five-year run is set to end next year as well.

Mercedes is working on its new supercar, known internally as P11 (or to us as the SLC), that should appear in auto shows at the end of next year. Inspired by the iconic 300GL Gullwing, power is expected to come from 6.2L AMG V8 producing...

This marks the end of a great era for MB. I've always liked the SLR McLaren.

Maybe I should have said chapter, not era. It will mark the end of a great chapter for MB. I'm sure that their next supercar will start another great chapter in their history.

She's a Japanese prostitute. $20 in the pink, $30 in the stink.

"Inspired by the iconic 300GL Gullwing"...

What the hell is a 300GL?

They mean SL, and the 300SL is too important a car to screw up like that.

I do like this car and I respect it a lot but I feel that its looks are too close to the SL. I would much rather get the Carrera GT, Murcielago, F430, etc.

The SL is a taxi???? You're insane.

You can't get cloth seats or 4 cylinders in the SL, S or CL!
And Lexus does make 4 cylinders! The IS220d!

S class taxis, fine. Executive, expensive taxis though, not normal ones. You can't just flag down an S class. And it's a testament to how great Mercedes Benz is.

Rupert,

I'd ask you to tell GoObama about London's Taxi Fleet compiled of Lexus cars which I believe they have had for a while now, but then youd be wasting your time on replying to someone who has nothing thoughtful or intelligent to post here.

Why hasnt he been removed already?

I think Barack Obama should get involved. This GoObama guy will single handedly ruin the real Obama presidential race.

They shouldnt name the upcoming model the SLC. That name was already taken in the 70s by the SL coupe made (a cheaper version of the SL which seized production only after a few years) . SLX, SLA, etc would have been nice and fresh.

I think a name of a sport car should contain a 'R' ..
So I hope they make the new name with same name SLR ..

SLR when came out, it wa awesome. Even today it looks great. and is one of the most popular exotic here in Middle East. But for this money it should also be great performer on track.

I love it's looks but if i am shopping in this segment i'll certainly choose Ferraris, Porsches, Lamborghinis over SLR. Even Bentley continental GT, AM V8, R8 are better allrounders than SLR.

I've never liked the SLR, so I'm glad to hear it's being replaced by something more interesting.

I always thought the SLR was cool. It's one of the few cars I've never actually seen on the road.

If any of you have seen the pictures of that SLR with the flat black paint job, that's my favorite one.

I saw one on the road - but I thought it was an SL with a weird bodykit at first. They looked too similar - although their overall stances were different, they had the same details. And what purpose did it serve? Was it a GT? Was it a sportscar? I don't really know...

Ive seen plenty of SLRs (ironically all were silver) and they are very impressive. Huge front and a very long wheelbase. Looks a lot bigger in person and it is definitely a sexy car. The interior is a bit plain and the seats look rich yet uncomfortable, not a huge fan of the interior.
