BMW X6 Hybrid Test Car Spied

BMW X6 Hybrid Test Car Spied
Just when you thought the BMW X6 news was cooling down, these new photos surface of the BMW X6 Hybrid being tested. These photos first surfaced over at all things BMW or in other words: Bimmerpost.com. This photo shows probably some of the most hood bulge this side of the automotive world. Of course the production model itself will not have such an exaggerated hood structure.

The two-mode hybrid system in this BMW X6 test car first surfaced at the Frankfurt Auto Show in 2007.
From BMW:

The innovative two-mode active transmission allows variable power transmission via the
power split incorporating planetary gearsets. In addition, the active transmission incorporates
an electric drive system and enables the vehicle to drive at fixed transmission ratios within
one system. This combines the driving dynamics and efficiency of the combustion engine
and the electric drive system in an innovative, intelligent manner.

Head over to Bimmerpost for the rest of the photos of the BMW X6 Hybrid test vehicle.

That bulge on the hood is HUGE! What's it got under that hood, a nuclear reactor?

"Of course the production model itself will not have such an exaggerated hood structure."

I'm interested to see the performance and fuel economy difference of this 407hp AWD V8 hybrid, since the last V8 all-wheel drive hybrid that came to market that shall remain nameless (cough cough Lexus LS600h) had no difference in either category.

LOL, I think the bulge is the new cooling system for BMW's overheating engine.

As if the Bangle Butt wasn't bad enough--now we have to stare at the Bangle Bulge...? Uh, wait...that came out wrong (just like all of his designs).
