That rear quarter window corner is copied off Lexus's design.
brake light hoopla is copied off Audi's and Honda's.
Exhaust thing is copied off Acura's MDX.
Reminds me of Platypus..No originality at all.
Ferrari is a junk.

GooSama are you retarded?
You say the X6 "looks like an X5 with the end cut off". Yes, that is true. Thank you. As a matter of fact, that happens to be the point of the X6.
OOPS, BUT then like an idiot you declare "it can't be a coupé because it doesn't have two doors."
LOL! ARE YOU AWARE OF WHAT THE WORD 'COUPE' EVEN MEANS?
"CUT", YOU RETARD! IT'S FROM THE FRENCH, "Couper"... "to CUT"! OMG! FOOL!

GoObama08, you never cease to amaze me with your manipulation and dilution of facts.
Coupe can also include cars with four doors.
I've read your postings on various threads and your comments have very little factual information. Mostly they are just your "fairyland" opionions.

Here's the deal. I hope you know what the word derived entails. The word Coupe is derived from the word Couper (koo-pay). The English just decided to stress the first syllable. The word does mean to cut and it's a fact that cannot be ignored. Just because the car world has bastardized a language and marketed a word in a different context does not mean that the origins can be ignored. BMW, Mercedes, and now VW have taken a more correct path than most by bringing a 4-door Couper to market. They are dealing with origins not silly marketing that inevitably took over the thoughts of the uninformed and ignorant. In fact there has been at least one other 4-door Coupe to come out. This was the 1962 Rover P5. I'm 100% willing to bet that the reason why coupes were mainly 2-door vehicles is because of the cut itself messing with the roof line and making it ridiculously hard to produce a vehicle with the proper strength with four doors. The word Sedan can apply to two door models also. A two door sedan , as labeled by the SAE, is a vehicle with rear accommodations equal to or greater than 33 cubic feet. Why is this important? Well because of this SAE stat the 612 Scaglietti, Monte Carlo, RX-8, probably both of the CL vehicles (From Acura and Mercedes for those that choose not to think), and even the Saturn ION are all forms of modern day Sedans.

Yes. It has the size and amenities many drivers are looking for and it combines them the dynamic agility that used to be available only with small sports cars. It creates a new, exciting class of vehicles.

BMW needs to stay with their 3 and 5 series, that thing is so ugly. Maybe they hired Homer Simpson for the design. BMW is so "hiped up" that they probably could present a great big ball of shit with a BMW emblem on it and people would say,now thats a piece of shit that I want to drive, cant wait to that piece of shit is in the showroom...

Such vehicles are just toys that you use for weekends. I love the front and the interior, but the whole idea of this car is stupid. I would spend my money on the X5 and not this.

agree. X6 is such a car people would like to have for some time as it's a new thing, they want to try it. but the people who are shopping in this category and intends to keep their purchase for long time like 2 or 3 years will most likely won't spend there money on X6 but more sensible and suitable options like X5 or 5 series wagon.

it's an image car, plain and simple. People are going to turn and look at this when it drives down the road, and the young Wall Street Alpha Male types are going to buy them up without thinking twice. It will get them and their three friends to the golf course where their fellow country clubbers will be envious lof the "cool new thing" they're driving.
That's what this car is about, and I predict it's going to succeed tremendously at it.

What is the point of this vehicle? Hmmm, i don't know what is the point of any vehicle, isn't the point to get you from point A to B. This is a site for car enthusiasts, not a automobile utilitarian site. Why have a V12 engine in a car, is that practical? Idiots on here act like every car has to make absolute sense. Go drive a v4 Camry or Taurus and stop your girling. Who cares what the definition of a coupe is, the whole essence of progressing in the auto industry is to create new and exciting products and segments and giving a new fresh twist that which is already existing. If they made flying cars people will rant and throw a tantrum over the definition of a car, "it has to have four wheels to be considered a car. Get of autospies and go check out www.minivan.com for cars that make absolute sense and are the most practical in their application.

While I am at it, why don't we just have one brand of cars, one color, one engine type, because apparently people shouldn't have taste, or preference, or choice in the things they like or would like to try. While we are at it lets all live in the same color, size, type house, sit in the same size, type cubicles, get the same type of haircuts, wear the same color type clothes all at the same time. If you reject the privilege of choice and preference, leave Autospies and the country you are in.

Its not a coupe, it is a 5-door hatchback. The American public will quickly figure that out and shun it like Typhoid Mary.
This is not a flame-out, I like Bimmers, I even own one, but I saw the X6 at the NY Autoshow and think its a turkey. It is just an oversized 5-door hatchback and its pretentious of BMW to spin it as a 'Sport-Activity Coupe' and assume that people won't notice that its really a 5-door hatchback.
Sorry~!

I will give it the "all that" but I dont know about the "more" unless the "more" refers to the price, then yes, it is "all that and more"

More $$$ for less practicality. And it is not really a new "class" of vehicle at all. It is an X5, with less roof. Part of my agony is that I'm just tired of crossover vehicles. Every brand has at least one or two now. It seems like all the automakers want to do now is redefine car genres, just get back to loading up sedans and SUVs with great performance and luxury interiors.

The side of the rear bumper/quarter panel is like 4 feet tall. Good spot for billboards.

I don't like its looks, but I have yet to find any SUV that I would consider good-looking. Give me a sleek AWD station wagon - the new A4 Avant, for instance - any day.
As the X6 is a BMW, it will probably handle, brake and accelerate well. However, I am worried about the back-seat headroom - or lack thereof. The roof slopes severely over the entire rear passenger area. BMW, like Mercedes with its CLS, apparfently has discovered a new deomgraphic niche - short people who want to buy cars that tall people can't fit into!
