I can't get over the rearend. It looks like they photocopied the 3 series saloon tail, and blew it up to 1000%. Don't get me wrong. I'm a purveyor of "junk in the trunk", but the rear is a hard pill to swallow.

if i consider to buy x3,x5,Q7,ML500, room space & 4 wheel is most important reason, also rear passenger need to be feel comfortable. Why pay more buy X6 if X5 already provide all the feature i need. If i want sporty coupe 328xi or 335xi both are best choice. X6

Space might be the most important features TO YOU when looking at a vehicle, it won't be to everyone. Obviously the X6 isn't going to be the most practical SUV, but neither is a Porsche Cayenne (cramped rear seats, small cargo capacity -- sound familiar?). That's the vehicle the X6 is targeting, and it's about style and performance, form over function. There's obviously a market for performance SUV's considering the AMG ML and Cayenne do quite well. This is BMW's version, plain and simple. It just doesn't pretend to be something it isn't like those do. It isn't about "can I cram the whole soccer team in here?" or "can I fit that gorgeous armoir I saw when I went antiquing?", it's about "is this thing going to haul ass, put a huge grin on my face, and get me noticed at the country club?" And the answer is undeniably "yes".

How are the Cayenne and ML pretending to be something they are not? So this X6 isn't pretending because they gave it less interior space? That does not make any sense.

The one thing right here is that this is a niche vehicle that most will probably buy on style or performance alone.

I have this suspicion that the design will grow on you. It seems to be a trend with recent BMW's
