Enterprise Goes Green With Hybrid Rentals
The car rental business is slowly undergoing a green evolution, packing its fleets with more hybrids and fuel efficient vehicles.

But so far, it's been a cautious transition, since there's no telling whether consumer demand will meet the supply.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car, the nation's largest car rental company, launched one of its more ambitious efforts Wednesday, opening four new "green branches" in Atlanta. About 60% of the vehicles at the chain's stores will be hybrids or other fuel-efficient vehicles.

The company said it's a response to the consumer demand in Atlanta, which may reflect gas prices that could reach $4 per gallon this summer.

Well at least with the Prius you would be viewed as a snob driving a boring car. LOL

LOL!

in the parking lot of our local UU church, which arguably has the highest percentage of professionals in town, there is all of ONE benz, an occasional volvo, and about 1/2 dozen toyota hybrids.

i don't think ANY of the folks there are snobs. the vast majority ARE highly intelligent, and yet modest.

Great idea. I know I'm not the only one who looks forward to trying something different when renting a car. I think this will be a huge win for everyone, including the manufacturers.

You can actually rent almost any Toyota on the market thru most of your local Toyota Dealerships. They are called T.R.A.C. car's. it stands for Toyota Rent A Car..... Those vehicle's are "loaner" cars for the dealership, however, they are available to be rented out by the general public.
