While the other press people were daydreaming about their next free lunch or press trip during Porsche's Cayenne's for Canines announcement in New York, they missed THE most important statement made by Peter Schwarzenbauer, PCNA President and CEO.

If they would have been paying attention, they would have heard what I heard which was a personal guarantee (Who is this guy? Joe Namath?), by the Porsche US CEO.

And what WAS this personal guarantee?

Most of the conference was dedicated to the Canine announcement but he did spend some time talking about the upcoming Cayman.

His exact words were 'I guarantee you and you can hold me to this, the Cayman will be THE BEST looking sports car Porsche makes.'

WOW!

That's pretty bold if you ask us!

Based on our survey of dealers who have seen the car undisguised, the Porsche CEO is wrong. They tell us it's a nice looking car but certainly not the best looking one in their stable.

Should be an intersting debate when the car finally makes its debut.

I hate the name, but I'll take one without the badge. The prototype pictures look pretty damn good.

for rear seats you can't use? or for the antiquated rear-engined layout?

Wild boasts aside, the cayman is really good looking. It actually resembles some old 911 prototypes. We could be looking at the future of the 911 which is at the end of its engineering possibilities. The mid engined layout holds much more promise in the handling department and the Cayman can probably out-handle the Carerra S without much effort. BUT, the Cayman is probably going to have the same front end as the Boxster which is BUTT UGLY! Hopefully, Techart will offer a front bumper or maybe Ruf will offer something attractive.
