oh man the GT-R was so impressive out there! i was especially amazed on how QUICK the revs are. definitely a nice advantage. The GT-R was chasing that lambo down! practically tailgating it around the turns and out gunned it just in time. GT-R never ceases to amaze me...what a nice truck, eh EL?

Yes, the GTR is a nice truck as in garbage hauling type.
And the race was set up for the GTR to win.
Typical BS if you ask me and you BS a BS'er.

Well so is not the GTR, it has even got back seats, and it is touted as a usable supercar like the 997 turbo. So i don't see how the 997 has a disadvantage in this competition.
The GT3 has much stiffer suspension and is tuned for racing with even roll cages in the back. So clearly putting that up against the GTR would be unfair to the Godzilla.
And now about the race, really i was not expecting the GTR to win, especially because they had the Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera and the Murcealago. In the video the 997 and the GTR had a close race and the Porsche was a strong competitor.
In terms of styling none of the other three are even comparable to the Lamborghinis, that includes the Porsche also, which is not so much of a looker like the GTR, but both have functional forms and as we have just seen are better performers than even the Gallardo. Which is all great news, but because the GTR is only half as expensive as the 997 and only a quarter as expensive as the Gallardo, and may be 1/6 th as expensive as the Murcealago, but still outperforms them all, it really is an astounding achievement. And nissan is made with quality materials, not like some flimsy materials used in supercar alternatives like the Caterham or the Lotus.

lol you guys are blind if you can't see that they let teh gtr pass the LP...i don't doubt that gtr is better tehn 911 cause they've done so many comparison tests and gtr has won but skyline taking an the LP640 on the straight was absolute nonsense

Hmmm...dunno, the GTR is a great car but i think they kinda let it win. Also i'd be a little careful while racing a Porsche and Lambo considering their pricetag over the GTR. But kudos to GTR anyway

Nissan GT-R vs. Porsche 911 Turbo (997). Notice how the Porsche is all over the place at the turns, while the GT-R seems to be more composed.

In the previous race the Lambo Gallardo SL already destroyed the GT-R on a twisty track. Here it was constantly being blocked by the 997 Turbo.
Also notice the driver in the LP640 is constantly short-shifting at 7000rpm, it has it's maximum power at 8000RPM.

It so obvious this whole race was propaganda...most of the cars where not driven nowhere near to what they were capable of and yes alot of them were shifted way before their redlines...what a joke!

What you don't see here is before the final race BM runs time attack for all cars:
GT-R : 2'07"600
Superleggera : 2'10"024
LP640 : 2'11"435
Porsche Turbo : 2'12"624
Don't forget GT-R starts at the last position and deliver has the fastest lap time of 2'08"037 during the race. It proves GT-R can deliver consistent performance easily, even driven by Hattori who is not that talented.

The shifting point is not always happening at the redline, peak hp, or peak torque. Read the following link for more info:
http://www.datsuns.com/Tech/whentoshift.htm
LP640 in fact produces max 650 Nm torque at 5400 rpm. This might explains why he shifted not at redline, but at 7000. It depends on the torque curve and gear ratio.

I'm all for German Supercars, but those who denies the GT-R is just stupid. I've never doubted this car, and I know that as a true car fan, its great for the market. As a true German car fan, I know not many people will cross shop the GT-R and a 997 Turbo, let alone a 997 GT2. But to deny the GT-R a place in supercar territory is just pure bias talk.
I still will never get a GT-R, but I damn sure respect it. Can't wait to take on one on the tracks!!!

The GTR is a beast, but this was obviously fixed. Am I imagining. Did anyone else notice that there are 2 "final laps"? I guess since the GTR couldn't get around the short shifting Lambo, when the Lambo broke to late and went wide in the last run on the first "final lap", I guess they decided to go one more time to make sure it won. Maybe I'm wrong, but I did watch it twice.

How come there are 2 final Laps in the race. At just past the 6 minute mark they cross the finish line and it says final lap in Red letters, then around 8 1/2 minutes the screen shows final lap again in green letters. Race is pretty skeptical. Gave every chance for the GTR to win.

Proof is in the vid. The Lambo was not even in full throttle, hell I would have down shifted and ran the RPMs into the final stretch. Be ignorant if you like. This is not the first time I have seen this and from other countries. Happens all the time. Yeah pit the GT-R against the European sports cars with much more power and the GT-R flies by it like nothing....lol. Even the Z06 has faster 1/4m times as well as LP460 and somehow the GT-R zips by it on the final stretch??? hahaha...believe what yall want...

It’s so amazing to see how the Germen fan boys start crying and making excuses about their cars. The idiots get excited when they compare a V8 BMW/MB against a V6 hybrid Lexus, but start screaming when a V6 turbo Japanese kicks ALL of there V6 turbo, V10s, etc...
Truly not worthy for them to call themselves car enthusiasts.
Wonderful work GT-R, you truly ARE the LORD OF MACHINES!!

Either way, as a big Porsche fan, I realize the ante has been upped and Porsche needs to go back to the drawing board. Maybe it's time for a mid-engined or new front engined design. Next year, they will have their DCT, PDK whatever and this will even up the score a bit but they still need to be looking ahead. With the exception of the Panamera (ugly) and a two door variant (928?), I don't see anything exciting on the horizon.

stop getting your panties all bunched up. the race went on for one lap longer. the end wasnt real, the LP would not have lost. the second to last lap is a clear indicator that on the straight the LP pulls on the GTR.
but face remains the 997 turbo and gallardo (im not convinced its a SL, because the video said was just a regular gallardo) got destroyed. that about sums up the GTR.

One would HOPE the LP pulls on the GT-R. It's $315-$350K! Versus $66-$71K.
It's EASY to make a damned fast $350K car. It's VERY HARD to make one that'll hang with that $350K car, and sell it for $66K.

^^^No one doubts that Hantra.... Then again a car is not just about power...right!?! LP is beautiful and interior/materials is in another league than GT-R as expected from a premium sports car.
I am sure Porsche and Euro Sports cars have taken notice and will respond...after the Spec-V comes out :)
