If the new Nissan GT-R’s 353kW isn’t enough for you, wait until the debut of the GT-R V-spec, which promises 510kW of power courtesy of an increase in boost for the twin-turbo V6 engine.

Caught here at the Nurburgring test track in Germany, the GT-R V-spec has been set a target lap goal of under seven minutes and 25 seconds for the tricky, demanding circuit. That's 18 seconds faster than the cooking GT-R that is already quicker than a Porsche 911 Turbo.

The GT-R V-spec is also rumoured to have shaved 150 kilos off its (admittedly hefty) 1740kg kerb weight by the use of carbonfibre body panels and lighter, more effective carbon-ceramic brakes.

Those stoppers are fed cool air via a revised front splitter that boasts several new air intakes.

It’s not clear when the GT-R V-spec will be unleashed on the public. The standard GT-R comes to Australia in early 2009.

Someone answer something for me the article states "target lap goal of under seven minutes and 25 seconds for the tricky, demanding circuit. That's 18 seconds faster than the cooking GT-R." Wouldn't that put the standard GT-R at 7:43? I thought people were claiming the regular GT-R was running 7:38 in the wet. I am really confused here, which time is correct for the standard GT-R?

About the Spec-V, awesome car. Good to see it is shedding weight. I wonder if the AWS system will be modified also.

I consider this as a death sentence to Toyota because even if they manage to bring something to compete with the GT-R it will be over priced because Nissan has set a new standard in the supercars segment.

Just when you think the standard Nissan GT-R is giving all the Supercar engineer in Europe a Nightmare, now this....

Wow what a Beast, and I bet it will be 700hp or more when they do the dyno test again. This Nissan GT-R will run the lap Under 7 minutes for sure. Just like it was the first to break the 8 minutes mark back in the day.

Congratulation to Nissan and it Engineering team again, dawn Lexus and Acura better hurry up with their toys.

Will wait for the official numbers but Nissan is scaring the hell out of the competition with the coming of the Spec-V.

Wow, I thought the GT-R was a powerhouse performer, but this Spec-V is going to be insane. It does not even have any competition anymore since it has bascially taken out everything else. They need to work on a new Q and put the GT-R turbos on the G37 and detune it a little, then it will be game over. Great job Nissan/Infiniti, keep up the good work.
