Yeah Honda is going to make a V10 supercar and use... hold on scrolling up to laugh...SH-FWD. FWD! V10! Now thats funny. Or were you serious. I'm sorry if you were. Actually more sad than sorry.

I hope Acura doesn't put the chrome bar at the top of the grill like the MDX and the new TSX.
Great news about the new RWD models - about 15 yrs late though.

I've been hearing about this new Acura supercar replacement for years, yet nothing happened. Just all talks.

Besides, putting a V10 in there is all wrong. That's like not staying faithful and traditional to the original V6. And replacing it with a front engine V10 over the choice of a well balanced a mid-engine V6 will make this a heavy PIG like the V10 Viper.

The original mid-engine NSX competes with other mid-engine exotics such as Ferrari F355/F360, Lamborghini Diablo, and Lotus Espirit. Now it's going to move down scale and competes with cheaper front engine Vipers and Corvettes.

Well, I consider a proper sports supercar to be Midengined but it doesn't mean the next NSX will scale down. Remember, Ferrari makes the 599 and that's an awesome supercar. Then there's the Nissan GTR, which I consider a supercar. The GTR IS a pig, but it has an awesome AWD system with good power. Remember, Acura also has a damn good AWD system and they are mating it to a V10 NA 550HP engine. This thing is going to have some crazy torque, have some crazy speed coming out of corners and sound unlike any Honda ever made. The interesting rumour here is that they mention RWD saloons. I wonder if they will be rear wheel biased SH-AWD systems or straight RWD. My guess is that SH-AWD will be used to save costs of developing a new platform.

i think it will be more of a rival of 599 GTB(front engine).

btw original NSX was a great car, with so many all new technologies. New one has to be ground breaking and live upto to it's iconic name.

I tend to agree with JUGNU on this one.Honda is a technology company that has raced in F1.Their engines tend to be light weight. I would suspect a front mid engine layout,aluninum hood and fenders etc. to keep
a 50/50 or perhaps a 48/52 weight balance. It will be a good handling machine.

I'm glad Honda is straying away from their vow to not produce anything larger than a V6. Maybe this will lead to a V8 RL and/or TL Type-S with RWD. But I won't get my hopes up. Acura has been kind of disappointing lately.

V-10 or V-6 isn't important to me. I'm more concerned that the NSX has lost its exotic appeal by switching to front engine. The performance of a front engine may be spectacular (Z06, Viper, GT-R, LF-A?, SLR), but in my opinion, a front-engine is simply less EXOTIC than a mid-engine (R8, Gallardo, F430). This NSX may put out great numbers, but as an exotic hypercar, I've fallen out of love. Acura really should have stuck with the original formula.

I really hope whatever they do, they are able to keep the exotic appeal the original had.

They still look awesome today (well to me anyway).

I hope the interior is mind-blowing, and that it sounds as good as it handles the road.

The original NSX had a great exterior and mechanicals. In the drawing above, I see styling cues to the R8 in the front end, namely the squinty headlights and the "gills" below the headlights. I wonder what the center grill will look like. I like it.

Go Honda! I look forward to your SuperCar. Just please don't make it look like Corvette, like the illustration at the top of this page.

The picture at the top of the page is the concept car that was shown in Detroit last year. It was reported that many, including Honda bigwigs, did not care much for this styling, and so the car was delayed (I'm sure delayed for many other reasons as well)...the new, as of yet unseen NSX replacement will have even more Corvette inspired styling (?!?)


Did I mention that I am losing faith in Honda/Acura...

On paper some cars look like the girl you grew up with next door, sort of plain and frumpy. This is most true for Honda of all manufucturers. Take the new Accord, S2000, NSX, and RL for example, in print and screen it doesn't look all that impressive but in person suddenly the body lines dance and now you're wondering how it got hips like Beyonce.
I recently read in an Acura owner's quarterly magazine an interview with Acura's EVP, Dick Colliver who said that the seperation of Honda and Acura's design department was difficult and that there was a lot of conflicting opinions on the alleged new NSX pictured above.
Even more interesting was a small picture featured in that article that showed this NSX parked in front of another Acura coupe at their new design center. It was similar in size to the BMW 3 series. I wouldn't be surprised to see the return of the CL.

Having owned a 97' NSX-T, it's disappointing to see that Acura has nixed the mid-engine configuration.

Part of the previous car's appeal has always been as a more reliable, affordable (relatively), mid-engine Japanese Ferrari.

Now it's just another fast, front-engine car among many. :(

A lot of people are saying that the NSX Concept looks like a corvette, that may be true, but it also has some resemblance to the original NSX which...kinda had a hood and front end that resembled...a corvette.

Yikes!...& I thought the L-FA's styling was distastefully futuristic. You think the "Wolf" in "Pulp Fiction" would've been seen driving this thing in his classy 3-piece? I didn't think so.

Racecar like acoustics means its gonna be noisy not having the sound deadening materials to keep it light.

you forget, honda invented VTEC.

under normal driving, this engine will likely be tame as a pussycat, just purring along.

but anytime it's revved to where the hot cam kicks in, you can (and from this WILL) get the sound of an outright race engine.

Well the concept isn't nice so lets see the real car. And if the old NSX with the V6 cost $80k, so I take it this will cost twice as much.

This new design is way too rounded, looks like a peanut! I know rounded shapes are good for pedestrian safety and all that, but why can't cars go back to looking like they did in the 90's...

I always loved the original NSX design. It was so exotic. Wish they kept the mid-engine layout, but this will be interesting to see. And yea, Honda should def build a rear drive Prelude...
