EVO MAGAZINE:How Does the New Cadillac CTS measure up on UK roads?

EVO MAGAZINE:How Does the New Cadillac CTS measure up on UK roads?
Here’s the problem. Cadillac, arguably the most famous automotive brand in America and one with vaulting global ambitions, hasn’t cracked the UK. The models assigned to the task – most recently the CTS saloon – weren’t up to snuff. And they looked a bit odd. And, well, in a sceptical Europe, no one much cared about Cadillac, anyway. That just 450 sold in the UK over the past two years tells its own story.

The good news is that the new CTS is a much better car than the old one. From some angles it’s now almost handsome in a European kind of way, while similar strides have been made inside with design, materials and tactility, though claims that Audi was benchmarked in these areas only makes you wonder why Cadillac didn’t take more detailed notes: the knuckle-rap test betrays a most un-Audi-like lack of solidity beneath the surface........

The U.K. needs to wake up, sip a little more tea, & recognize what a worthy contendor Cadillac is becoming. This car currently has the best in class interior IMO & the exterior design isn't far off.

Mabye they'll take notice once the CTS-V hits the roads & runs a muck through the pages of their automotive press.

This review is useless since most of European reviewers are severely biased. Once they know a car is from U.S., they are just looking to criticize it. They never mention that how European cars are over-priced, have relatively bad reliability and lack new tech features from Japanese and American cars.

I have sat in and driven the Lexus IS. While it is of impressive quality, the cabin is very small compared to its competitors. Nice car, by by no means the class leader.

I'm just going to assume that you've never sat in or driven the current CTS. It's of a much higher quality than anything that has come out of Detroit in the past. And I recall reading somewhere that GM used some of the same suppliers as Mercedes to put together the interior.

Blind allegiance to a manufacturer or country of origin is pointless. Think for yourself and evaluate things on their merits, not on any preconcieved notions you might have about them.

Cadillac may not match BMW 3's performance and driving dynamic (since it is a larger car), but it trumps BMW3's interior, by a mile.

Amazingbimmer

Come on man, seriously, i thought you were a knowledgeable guy?? We are talking about cars here, why would you even bring up your disillusioned reality of americans?? Buy German?? i did and i love it, except for the fact my 335i has been in the shop 3 times before i hot 10,000 miles, ranging from a sunroof that wouldnt close and oil overheating issues. That is pretty offensive, i wasnt born in America but this country took in my family and I, and treated us better than our home country, so to say that about a whole nation just renders your opinions worthless. P.S you should come check it out, ive been in germany and theres a reason we didnt move there.

Oh, OK...my post gets removed (assuming for profanity?) but BIGOTRY is acceptable to auto-spies?

AGAIN...BMW'S ARE BUILT BY AMERICANS AND AMZININ-A$$-MUNCH IS A BIGOT.

I would hope autospies would have SOME respect and cancel his account. They cancelled mine for ciricizing them. Maybe I should just steroetype them and it would be ok then,

last time I checked, thailand doesn't have a car company and mainly produces all cars from different makes around the world for their market.

The current CTS has been praised for its interior and tight panel fit. Go look at one for yourself rather than just trashing the thing.

I don't understand this whole "American cars suck" thing. Sure there have been some very poor quality vehicles coming out of Detroit, but not all of them are bad.

Cadillac is doing the right thing with the CTS. It's a well put together, good looking sport sedan. I'm 22. I drive an Infiniti. I would consider the CTS for my next car, as would many of my peers. Five years ago, noone my age would have looked twice at a Cadillac.

YOU do realize Americans BUILD BMW's right? You cannot logically argue we can build BMW's with good panel gaps and no other brands, right? Dang you're a moron.

And the spies response to my post proves their tolerance of a bigot...here's the Funk & Wagnall's definition (<---not an Fbomb) or Webster's:

Main Entry: big·ot
Pronunciation: \'bi-g?t\
Function: noun
Etymology: French, hypocrite, bigot
Date: 1660
: a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices; especially : one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance

Get a life and keep this crap off your website. You cancelled my other account for proving what bias you had to BMW, not this one.

Show some integrity and drop amazinbimmer.

Why do you forget to mention that a Corvette cost as much as a base audi A6 or a base 335i????? Why dont you compare the performance and then tell me if you care about the interior. The funny thing is on the Nurburgring the Base Corvette outpaces an AudiR8, and a bmw m6, granted the Audi has a nicer interior, but do i want topay 80 thousand us dollars more for an interior?? Put things into perspective man.

this is example of carreview that i don`t like . Cadillac must be cadillac , not better audi - what they say is that it will be good when it will be like an audi(or other german car) , but than it wouldn`t be a cadillac . the whole problem is to make car different but good . good carreview is like this previous from top gear when they say what are strong points what weak points of car and differences and don`t say that good car must be like some other car . car must have their own personality , not improved personality of different car e.g. citation from top gear:
"There are, however, four cars that deliver on exactly the same design brief in totally different ways. Each car brings an almost unrecognisable experience, as if each saloon were designed for a different bespoke customer. ...But it isn't without its faults..."

also clarkson`s reviews are good . thing that i say isn`t quite good in CTS is 3.6 V6 engine :
"only really coming alive between 4000 and 7000rpm."

this isn`t cadillac style(personality) , it`s honda style .

I've come to the conclusion that Europeans are the only ones that think a heavy luxury car, should handle like a Lotus, rev like a Honda, brake like a Donkervoot, and produce topspeed like a Le Mans car.
