I don't know how long you've been on this site but stick around and you'll soon learn that EL34 and rational thought do not go together. Agreed, should be a great race.

Realistically, those who poke fun at the Germans are envious. Before the mass marketing within the United States happened who gave notice to the brand? They were just over-priced Toyotas and in some minds they still are. But to keep forth with this "Oh Toyota's are more reliable than Germans". It may not always be the case.

A client of mine is a president for one of the auto groups here in my city. They have received a number of problems with their models.

You Toyota fan boys can really use the "reliability" line so much before it bites you in the ass. Before you deboost. I own a Lexus too =)

i dont see the hybrid powertrain really being useful here.

sure, at the beginning with full charged batteries, he might bet the beneficial torque, but its a 24 hour race. those quick speeds and quick braking wont regenerate that much energy to the batteries

the FULL potential of hybrid racers, impinges on the use of supercapacitors.

toyota demonstrated its advantage last year in a race winning hybrid Supra.

whether or not the germans can match toyota in this whole new arena will be demonstrated at the race.

It's a test, so they will be able to develop the technology further and implement in a variety of vehicles.

if the damn car is producing 800hp, how much of that is from the hybrid system? I'm sure not much, so what's the purpose of it?

All this banter and everyone is so busy slagging crap, that nobody acknowledges that the Gumpert is an English car, the only thing German about it is it's Audi motor.
