Mercedes-AMG developing 700HP V8 and hybrid

Now that AMG is no longer focused on chasing big horsepower numbers, efficiency is quickly become the new performance benchmark for the Affalterbach-based tuner.

Not even exclusive performance firms like AMG are immune to the effects of stricter emissions and fuel economy standards being phased in over the next decade, so expect to see downsized engines, more diesels and even hybrid engines introduced by the performance house.

welcome back to the grand AMG engines of the old...
the 6.2 liter is an awesome engine, but its rather big and non-fuel efficient. This will be better.
They probably wanted to get in what crazy engine designs they had before these fuel efficiency standards clamp down

AMG will do a great job, and even with HP wars over, they already are the winners in quality and endurance.

Impressive! I'm looking forward to the year 2015, where AMG will build an engine rated rated at 1.21 Gigawatts , of course ;)
