Video: Jay Leno’s test drives the 2009 Nissan GT-R

We definitely would love to see Adam Corolla and Jay Leno host the U.S. version of Top Gear, however Leno has already turned down the offer fearing that Americans will ruin the show for what it’s worth.

Nonetheless you can see Leno’s take on the latest and greatest at his Jay Leno’s Garage website. Today, Leno gives us his take on the new 2009 Nissan GT-R.

Refresher: Power comes from a a 3.8 L twin-turbocharged DOHC V6 engine that produces 473 horsepower and a peak torque of 430 lb-ft. 0-60 comes in at 3.5 seconds.

It's cool knowing that Jay Leno enjoys the Nissan GT-R despite him being more of a American, European car fan. Interesting to note one of his first cars was a datsun which he really liked.

Hmm if Jay Leno is giving this car its props, you know its gotta be good. I mean this guy garage is full of porsches, corvettes, Ferraris, muscle cars, etc. Surprised to hear he used to like japanese cars like the original datsuns.

Your point is ? Too many fake fools on this supposedly car enthusiasts site. Jay Leno doesn't seem to mind its a nissan, he's a fan of the old datsuns. Jay Leno is a real car enthusiasts not a brand hoe like everybody else on this site

Hey I drive a BMW and have done for 20 years but I love anything automotive except for the Pontiac Aztec.

I have never understood this fanboyism. I would love a honking big AMG or a GT-R.

If you notice during the drive. Jay would still prefer the regular stick shift. But the DSG trans works close enough to a manual that he could live with it. The nice thing about Leno is he just flat out likes cars and understands that it is the car you are driving not the company that made it. A friend had a Datsun 1600 when we were kids and it was a kick in the butt to find the little curvy roads, that and a MG Midget.
