Chevy Malibu stealing sales from Toyota, Honda

How do you feel about the G35 "stealing" sales from the 3 series?

GM did a nice job with the Malibu...continue on this path and the public will keep coming back. The Malibu is a much better looking auto than the Camry- which is such a contrived and overwrought design disaster.

Well, of course the Altima outsells it, as far as I know it is the third best-selling car in the US!

And, to each his own; the rear of the Malibu doesn't bother me, and the front is very attractive.

I am glad GM is finally creating auto's I knew they could. Now they can never let up. Never!

EL34 continues to give "tits on a boar" useless comments. Since Toyota builds the Camry on US soil, it's real easy for them to match the Mailbu pricing. And for sure the Camry would continue to outsell the "Chevy Mali-Crap" sedan. But why bother since it has been selling hot at a much higher price? It's not about which is better(more so better car really means better price in the real consumer world), in this day and age of this car segment.

The Malibu is actually a REALLY good looking car. It shapes up very nicely, especially in the higher trims.

The Mailbu is the Saturn Aura and vice versa. The skin inside/and out along with a little bit of damping material is what makes them a tad different. So if the Camry decides the next gen to becoming a little more exciting interms of performance and styling, then it's back to square one with the Chevy...just another GM car. All the best to Chevy b/c it looks to be the only brand that can hold their own for GM at this point!!! Simply b/c Chevy likes to cannibalize the rest of the GM family...as good of an improvement they become, the more it hurts the rest of GM brands.

If you'd follow the history and the upgrades to this particular platform, then you'd understand that what you said isn't quite right. The malibu is version 3.0. The G6 started this platform, it was upgraded and the aura/opel version received the version 2.0 and currently, after more revisions and changes, the malibu rolls on it. Every time, they tweak it a little more. The cars are different enough that they aren't cannibalizing yet. A new aura should be coming soon anyway.
Why don't you criticize ford for platform sharing (read: xerox). That's all they do anymore but still fail. I applaud chevy and GM for making great strides and truly delivering on their promises. I can't wait to put a Volt in my driveway. It's the only way I'll go hybrid because the drive system is clever and really a no-brainer in terms of design. It's one of those "why didn't they think of that sooner" ideas.

And by the way, every time a new car comes out, the goal is to one up everyone else. That's just the cycle of things. When (if) the camry get more sporty or whatever and one ups the malibu or aura, then just wait for the next malibu and aura to one up the competition again. Its the circle of life.

While I am sure GM appreciates your passion, lets clear some things up. The Malibu is on the LWB version of Epsilon I. The 1st Epsilon I car was the SAAB 9-3 (a SWB), followed by the last Chevy Malibu (SWB), the Malibu MaXX (LWB), Opel Vectra (SWB), Pontiac G6 (LWB), Saturn Aura (LWB), and finally the current Malibu (LWB). The Epsilon II cars are starting to be unveiled beginning with the Buick Invicta concept in China and the Opel Insignia in Europe.

at this point, the leaders there are the Prius and the Corvette.
(and the corvette owner loyalty is DESPITE a less than stellar reliability record; owners love 'em enuff to overlook that.)
