Next-gen Acura NSX to compete with Lambo and Ferrari on price/performance

Honda’s NSX replacement has had several false starts, with the company scrapping the car’s design after the public’s largely negative response to its Acura Advanced Sports Car Concept, shown at 2007’s Detroit Auto Show.

Beyond the styling difficulties, ensuring the car will compete successfully with Lexus’s LF-A, Nissan’s GT-R, and Ferrari and Lamborghini’s sport-focused offerings is also taking time.

But the company is sure it will do so, and the target date is 2010.

Honda needs new management to get the priorities of Honda and Acura straightened out. They need a Carlos Ghosn to come in, shake things up, and make Honda more proactive.

They're indecisive and have no strategy with this new NSX which is an extension of what's wrong with the entire brand right now.

I agree, spot on. I think however that Honda has finally listened and is actually coming around. Just a few weeks ago there was mention of the entire Acura line up eventually changing to RWD.

The NSX is long overdue and long past its time... Honda should really give it up, though I suspect their components and engineering will come directly from their teams in ALMS

Carlos Ghosn is a cost cutter (A bean counter), he went into Nissan and helped them cut costs, he does the talking but eventually it's the Nissan staff who do the work..
Honda is making money so they don't need bean counters, but they do need some fresh input of inspirational designers that Nissan do have..

Xdrive, I see the title as Price/performance ratio, and not literally as selling an Acura at Ferrari prices..

Obviously, its weight is not a very limiting factor, because according to every source the GT-R feels like a WAY smaller car.

Not to mention, it may not be gorgeous, but it's certainly striking. It's modern. It's very Japanese. I love it, almost as much as I love any sexy Euro sports car design.

These are all rumors. In another couple weeks later, you'll see and hear something different again. I've been hearing about the new NSX since Clinton was still in office.

And if they do make a new one, it gotta be a V6 mid-engine to stay faithful to the original as well as the company. Acura never had anthing more than 6 cylinders and shouldn't start now. Instead, they need to focus on lightweight and achieving more horsepower using a 6 cylinder engine like Nissan GT-R and 911 Turbo/GT3/GT2.

Putting a V8 or V10 would upset the balance of the vehicle and turn it into a PIG!
