Videos: Burnouts and drifting in a Dodge Challenger SRT8

At a recent press event for the new 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8, Chrysler put on a major burnout and drifting show for the media. After watching the videos, we’re just wondering how many miles were burned off those tires.

Refresher: Power comes from a 6.1 liter HEMI V8 engine that produces 425 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. 0–60 mph comes in at the low 5-second range.

Drifting is very gay. It's one of the very few un-timed automotive sports. It's has more in common with figure skating then race car driving.

I sure hope you're not a Japanese import fan then because their all about drifting overseas. They even drifted the first gen Soarers & whatever they called the Toyota (LS) down there. OF course the Trueno & 240s are popular still.

I'm not talking about Formula D or D1GP. I'm talking applying power over going around a sweet curve and just dancing with the rear end with throttle input. Is that ok with you guys? And to be completely honest. Drifting didn't start with the Japanese. Look at old Grand Prix footage from the early 50s and get back to me.
