New Car: 2009 Mitsubishi Colt Ralliart

It looks like tuner Ralliart is downsizing! Mitsubishi’s official performance division has worked its magic on the Colt – and this is the result.

Ralliart is famed for its fire-breathing modifications to sporty cars such as the Lancer Evolution and FTO coupé, but the limited edition Version R Special is based on Mitsubishi’s five-door supermini.

It features an uprated 154bhp, 1.5-litre petrol engine. That’s only 7bhp more than the flagship CZT, but the chassis has also been stiffened with seam welding around the door openings to improve handling.

Why do they even bother?

A friend had to get his eclipse serviced. A salesman tried to sell me a Lancer GTS 2009 with leather/sunroof/yadada. He compared it to a Lexus!.. A LEXUS!

Not to sound arrogant but he obviously didn't see what car I pulled up to the dealership with.

$32,000 Canadian after tax for the Lancer GTS. I would rather get a Civic Si for that money. Or spend an extra couple thousand on a Honda Accord.

You completely missed my point there.

I have an LS460, S550, and an R8(2/3 for business use). Anyways, I pulled up with the Merc and they tried to sell me a Mitsubishi while comparing it to a Lexus. Do you understand now?

Lexus and Mitsubishi can't be spoken together in the same sentence!

The kid thought I was dumb and out of this world because he listed the options that a Lexus could have but the car is half the price of a Lexus.

I'm sure anyone would get a Lexus over a Mitsu if they had the choice. :-)
