New Lexus IS prototype spied

A mysterious Lexus IS with heavy camouflage has been spotted running laps at the Nurburgring and is believed to be a new performance derivative designed purely for competition.

The prototype features a number of elements from the IS-F performance saloon, such as the bonnet bulge and aggressive front bumper, but it also sports a few unique features of its own, leading us to believe it also previews a facelift for the mid-sized sedan.

Why does every post have to be tainted by EI34/EL34's irrational ramblings? Shouldn't you be giving Norbert Reithofer a BJ about right now?

definitely not an IS-F anything...no upgraded brakes to suggest power under the hood. bulge is just to high to be having the v8 under their.

it's more than likely test mule for a new engine or something for the future IS/GS series

the dimensions of the car seem to be exactly intact with the current model...definitely an engines est mule for future vehicles

A friend of mine in Europe(Germany) is saying based on this from what he gathered, that it's a test mule of a hybrid diesel...interesting either way as to why the "test run". Funny they cover the front logo on the grille, but not the logo on the wheels!

I'm pretty sure Lexus won't offer Ultrasonic Blue for anything but the IS F. I think they said it was an IS F exclusive color. But I agree, AWD and a manual transmission would be awesome in the 350.

Looks like someone decided to take out the trash...

LOL, I'm sorry, I had to. But seriously, the car is great in its own right. I predict the changes will be as subtle as the recent changes to the GS which most people wont be able to tell

IS is a very handsome and sharp looking car. I hope Lexus don't change much. Front fascia could be revised with refreshed headlights, grill and bumper design.
