Toyota raising small car prices

Toyota will be raising the prices on its Hybrid Prius and Yaris models by 1.8 and 1.6 percent respectively. This increase comes at a time where Toyota will soon see a drop in operating profit in nine years.

This is horrible. Is it to offset their declining profits? I just don't want to be the person who wants to jump on the hybrid train and then find out that buying a hybrid will cost as much as buying an SUV.

I thought early adopters were the ones that get the cold shoulder. This is definitely a disappointment. Guess I should jump at the opportunity now rather than later.

in all likelihood, this is mainly due to increased costs in materials and increased shipping costs. increased oil prices are slowly effecting prices across the board. we're facing increased costs of materials at nissan also. i highly doubt this is due to offsetting any declining profits...
