Civic Mugen Type-RR Test Drive

Civic Mugen Type-RR Test Drive
Any Honda fan will tell you, Type-R logo means one of the best names in the industry when it comes to fast, stylish and fun to drive front wheel drive cars (considering that 90% of Hondas are FWD). We've seen a lot of Type-R Civics and none ever failed to deliver that "extra something" which makes it so special. The ingredients are well known; increased HP from the VTEC high revs motor, normally aspirated of course, sharpened chassis AND weight reduction. That's basically what every race car enthusiast would do to his own car before taking it to the track...but this time, we have been very fortunate to get our hands on an amazing Civic, not only because only 300 units will be produced but mostly because it was tuned by Mugen. The japanese company affiliated to Honda in Racing brings an enormous amount of knowledge into what's probably the best factory tuned Honda Civic that money can buy.
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome the Mugen Civic Type RR.

Just to quote from UK Evo mag- eCOTY on JDM civic type R

"Better to look upon it as a four-door NSX-R, for it possesses much of the supercar’s spirit’ "

A FWD car tested in the league of M3, R8, scuderia F430, 911 GT3 RS?

u need to check out where the car stands in this crowd

Plus, find a comparable RWD car (power & weight) and tell me where honda and mugen fails?

You should read more and understand the current trends

I know enough to tell you that this type "RR" is nothing but a riced out civic that does not belong on a track.

1 you are saying this because you own a honda, and im not gona argue, i got a honda aswell, tsx.

2 why are you trying to prove me wrong, when you know this car does not stand a chance agaist any rwd car, this little fartcan in the back and new headers do not make any difference what so ever. Its just a HONDA. the only good cars honda ever produced was the s2000 and then nsx. true rwd cars with amazing engines + amazing tuning potential.

3 How can u look at it like a four door nsx? the only thing that possesses supercar spirit is that huge ugly spoiler in the back, couple type RoadRice stickers and useless gauges. please.. give this econobox matchbox racer a break and dont give it a name it does not deserve.

i stand by my words, there is no such thing as fwd racecar. thanks for your time :)

i believe the tsx continues to beat the 3-series in touring car this year and last year it beat audis and subarus with AWD

unfortunately steering wheel is on the wrong side . why they don`t offer in europe civic type-r the same as in japan . european civic type-r is "softer" and slower what fifth gear proved:

I had read this article when it first appeared on Autospies and wanted to comment, but I couldn't decide what I wanted to say. So, I found this article again. I wanted to point out that the Civic RR is a naturally aspirated 240HP FWD race car and the VW Scirocco is a turbocharged with an intercooler 321HP FWD race car. So does this make the VW "riced" out too?
