GM customers left high and dry by strikes

Yikes...I wouldn't want the first axle to come out of the strike-ravaged plant to be installed on my new car.

GM's QA dept. has addressed that issue -- final inspection personnel will now check each axle for the presence of a Coors Light can wrapped around it.

I've had just about enough of these strikes lately. All they end up doing is screwing us the customers as well as the US economy.

This is not the early 1900's or even the time of Hoffa. The concept of a Union is an old and outdated measure that needs to be replaced. Most industry standards, which people were fighting for back when Unions were new, are now regulated if not federally mandated per company.

This is now the 4th major stike in a years time and 3 of them are automotivly based. I mean come on.

Its organizations like the UAW that are helping our country fall into a recession with its stupid bullheaded greedy tactics. For god sakes this isn't even GM that the UAW is striking and GM is offering the UAW $200 million extra to help bring the settlment to a close...AND THE RETARD RON GETTLEFINGER FROM THE UAW TURNED IT DOWN?! GM is alreay bailing out Delphi from UAW issues. How many more companies does GM have to bail out for the UAW to be happy?

Well 'smart guy' Ron. What happens when GM has to shut down because they cant get parts. Or they go bankrupt from bailing out other contracting companies. Thats right... LAYOFFS. Which means no money for the UAW's coffers.

In the name of self preservation on Gms part, tt is a shame that they don't (or can't) institute the age-old method of dealing with people who don't show up to work:

"You're fired."

man, with so many hiccups like these how does GM stay in Business!? They even have job bank programs where over 12,000 people are paid $30/hr to "not" work, they just show up to do crossword puzzles :)

and what about the billions in liabilities for pension and retiree health care? no wonder they have more pay cheques going out to people not even working...

I feel no sympathy for these workers. It would be much easier for GM to close up shop, head south to Alabama and Georgia, open up new factories and hire people non union like Hyundai and the other foreign comanies do. They stay where they are because of the communities and I really wish these jerks would bite the bullet for a little bit.

They sit around and strike and complain about work, while the economy is going down, they are too stupid to realize the effect they are having, maybe not immediately, but end of quarter or year it will be a big mistake since GM is on the verge of a turnaround with their quality and new vehicles coming out. It's time to shut-up, get back to work, and make your company strong again so you can get the benefits deserved and not ones you feel you should get just because.

Just like the people on welfare who do nothing for work, live in ghetto's, but drive fancy cars with big wheels yet their kids go to school starving. Good way to spend you check. You should not have the expectation, you should earn the right!

i pass the Fairfax plant every morning on my way to work here in Kansas City, the lot that stores the Malibu's is completely empty now...I want to put a sign on my car saying, Congrats UAW on making Toyota #1.

What basis do they have to strike on, let's see...car's are underperforming, quality is in the can, sales have tanked...but yet, We deserve more benefits, not in my book. The big three should just tell the UAW where to stick it.

I think the Government and teacher unions have to go as well. Unions are unfair because they are for the privilege few. This is a democracy.

In New York State, City and County workers get free face-lifts and Breast augmentation covered under their government health insurance. The union pres tals with arrogance, "We will not give this up, despite the economy for the rest of Americans"

Because they have a contract with AAM and it is not as easy as it sounds to just go over there.

On one hand they all bitch and moan about our jobs going to Mexico and China.

In the other hand they hold an "FU" sign to their employer.

$#%&*@ the UAW!!!! I am going to put a thanks UAW for making imports #1 on the back of my truck! I'm surprised American cars have improved as much as they have after these greedy, lazy POS union workers are damn near bankrupting us. UAW workers are like ghetto ass people who don't want to get off welfare and get a job. they want all of this money when they are already over paid. I bust my a$$ in the oilfield on a damn drilling rig 14 days straight at a time and these guys get to sit in a climate controled factory watching bumpers pass by making sure they aren't damaged.
