If you caught American Idol last night (most of you probably didn’t since you knew that only the 2 Davids would remain) you may have caught the first 2010 Mercedes-Benz GLK commercial to debut on the stateside.

The 2010 Mercedes-Benz GLK will arrive in U.S. dealerships in January 2009. Only one variant will be offered at launch with power coming from a 3.5L V6 engine that produces 268-hp, giving it the ability to do 0-60 in 6.5 seconds.

I like it. If it were a little bigger, like X5 sized with that look I'd get it first chance I got. At least it's not all feminine looking like most other crossovers it's size. I wouldn't all out call it manley, but definately less of a chic cuv than the X3 is. As much as I love BMW I couldn't be a guy buiying th X3. that thing is really a chick car.

If it was X5 size than it would be called GL.

If it were as big as the X% it would be called the ML.
The GL is bigger than the X5. THe ML is a X5 competitor.

85bmw745i, I have to correct you on the X3 being a chick car -- my wife will not consider it because it has an idiotic plastic rocker panel cover that protrudes 3 or 4 inches beyond the body. We test-drove it this winter and my wife hates the fact that she got her pant leg dirty every time she got in and out of it. We will now wait for the Q5 to arrive. I turned in my leased A6 Quattro this morning and am now driving one of my daughter's spare cars, a Mini. The Mini is real fun to drive by the way. I would almost love to buy a new Mini Clubman but my wife and I are holding out for something like the Q5 because we want the seats to be higher so we can get in without having to crunch our bodies down. Mini missed the boat by not developing a Mini SUV soon enough.

I see what you are saying EnnNorak. I just think the x3 could have been more aggressively styled. now the one where all the trim is the same color doesn't look too bad with the body kit. It's a little too soft, where the q5 could be more neutral.

Well maybe what I should have said was if the GL looked like this I would be all over it.
