Spied!! 2009 Acura TL - New Photos
It's been a long while since we've seen any spy shots of the 2009 TL. Maybe somebody caught my comment last week, or maybe this is just pure coincidence. Anyhow, our pal Chris Doane snagged this lightly camo'd TL out testing earlier today. There are 6 shots in this series but our budget is pretty tight at the moment, at least until we can get another flagship sponsor on board. I picked the 2 that I think show the most of the car.

What is wrong with Acura?? The latest models they have released have been so UGLY!!!

No wonder their sales are in the toilet...

so basically it looks the same in front (but with the ugly beak grill), same on the side, and like a CTS Coupe mated with a Camry in the back.

Still FWD right? Not interested.

Yeah, me too--in the same way that I was curious to see the 2G1C video...until I actually did. Learned my lession; I'll pass on the rest of the Acura pics, thanks.

Very smart of honda to add the extra 20hp to the allwheel drive model in order to offset some of the weight.

I hope, for their sake, that they do not continue the RL front end.

Frankly, Acura's new grille makes their car look like a slack-jawed yokel with one immense buck tooth in front. All I can think when I look at it is "close your mouth- you look retarded"

But you can see it through the black tape on the test car...

Goodness, I made a mistake. I don't mean the RL front end, I mean the TSX front end, such as that in the image 001 posted.

Ah ha! I DO mean the RL (I thought it was right- the 2009 model) Sorry, I am sure the last thing everyone wants to read is my endless vacillation.

Saw the new TSX two weeks ago. You hope somethings just look better in person, but the grille is just bleh.

Ouch, might not be a big seller anymore.

Did my Sunday dealer browse. Acura TSX was horrible. The interior is a mess and the car looked bloated and confused in its design. The front/rear are just ugly. Nothing about it is more appealing than the Honda Accord. Nothing. I noticed that the MDX, RDX, RL & TSX all have that nasty grille, so it's obviously going to be on this TL. BIG MISTAKE!!!! Who the hell thought this looked good????

I just don't get it, they are killing themselves with these designs. Nissan can breathe a sigh of relief, Acura now has the ugliest grills in the car business, I didn't think anyone could top "the tooth" grill that Nissan was using but this is a new low. The person in charge of the new corporate grill should be waterboarded.

Oh joy, it looks like a big TSX, and now it not only has an exaggerated Saturn front grille, but it has the Aura's "V" shape in the rear, too!

Acura couldn't settle on a design-theme from generation-to-generation if their life depended on it.

That's right, their life is OVER, because it depends on this and they failed. Miserably. Too bad. You had good AWD..

Hondas and Acuras are just plain butt-ugly now. The civic is alright.

Just die Acura.

The rear quarter panels have a Lexus GS/Nissan Maxima kind of look, but that test mule has some heavy camou on. I think I'll hold my judgement for the production version.

So sad that a company that produced such a nice current generation TL would sink this low. The TL is currently their best all around car and is fairly nice looking might I add. The styling of this is garbage. But hey, you can give them one thing... they are consistent.

It looks like they are going ot put that shield on the rear as well looking at how it comes down to a point at the middle of the bumper. The back for some reason reminds me of the current Honda Accord Coupe. Kinda over done or as another blogger on this site said, "it has a JLO booty" lol

Yes, lol j/k, its not as bad in person. I will give it that. It makes a bolder stmt then the previous version. However in pictures, the TSX looks better than both the RL and it appears it will look better than this TL too. But they still need to get rid of the grill shield.

It's not "ugly." It's simply boring. It doesn't look like a luxury car, that's for sure. A small BMW 1 Series has far more presence.

I like the new TL. I am a curent 06 TL owner and love my car. As I posted on tov, I think the tape on the masks a lot of the good qualities of the car. If you look at other spy photos, the rear resembles an infiniti M or a G35c. The blue tape is hiding a portion of the rear lights that are also part of the trunk. The car looks wider and has a lower stance. It appears to be more aggressive like the sports4 concept. Acura did a good job with the blue tape that matches the paint color. The SHAWD version looks to be the most interesting for enthusiasts. I'm betting the 350Hp SHAWD version is reserved for the type-S.

They would have to go mad before making this car with more power than the RL.

Acura's now look so damn cheap, the current TL, is a great looking car, but its on its last leg. Even the MDX looks like a dressed up Pilot. Cmon Acura, build some appealing products.

Say what you will about the MDX's looks, but I just don't see any visual relation to the Honda Pilot. Where do you see it??? Not even the door handles are the same.

I have high hopes and expectations for this car, and judging by the comments I'm not alone. The current model is so good in so many ways. I'm saddened to see the departure from the Italian-esque styling and to this head scratching design philosophy. Nonetheless, I'm not ready to give up on it yet. Let's hope they have an A-Spec interpretion as they did with the previous generation.

Like I've said with all "camoed" cars, let's wait till the official car is released. Reading some of the posts over at TOV from people that have actually seen the real thing in focus groups and dealer introductions have said that this disguised car is not at all like what the final will look like.

The rear on the test car looks like the rear of the new 08 honda accord coupe, which i am not to fond about.. the front of this photo posted sure does remind you of the RL models, which in a car that suppose to be sporty/luxury... taking off the side indents from the front and rear side markers, well that's weak sauce!! they just need keep the current model and change minor stuff for now.. haha
