Audi is best but I'm glad I just turned in my leased A6 Quattro as the warranty is now expired.

SMART people don't hang on to german cars, and ESPECIALLY vw/audi cars, once the warranty expires.

otoh, one of my toyotas is 2 years out of warranty, another 11 years. yet i have PERFECT peace of mind that i will just about NEVER have to worry about costly "issues."

MichaelTaylor - you really are a Lexus twit. Recent quality surveys such as CR have placed Audis at the top of the list. Audi out does all the German brands in quality surveys. Stop making up BS to try to make Lexus look good. The GS isn't even recommended by CR. The new A6 trumps the GS in quality ratings and most other competitors in this class. There aren't boots big enough for your BS.

That is going to be expensive to fix. Hope it doesn't trickle down to other models. Yikes!

To fix the problem, dealers will reinforce the nipple on the rollover valve to help prevent leaking or cracking. The recall is expected to begin on May 30, and owners of the respected vehicles should contact Audi immediately at (800) 822-2834.

What this means to you: If you own an A6 that falls into this category, better stop by your local dealer.

Audi has had a lot less recalls recently then the other manufacturers..

a few yrs ago my dads friend owned an a6 long before he traded it in for a 04 330i. he said that it had a fuel leak, so I believe that this isn't something new... I hope it doesn't spread.

the only problem I've seen with this is a CEL for an EVAP fault, but there is a possibility of a fire as stated so that's why there is a recall.

so you know bmwprincessdrvr, Audi does not make that part but a supplier does, and quality control does not prevent aging of a part that was not anticipated.
Plastic and rubber tend to be unstable materials anyway, his despite great care in their manufacturing.
And at least Audi did not ask their suppliers to cut expenses and be cheaper like BMW did earlier this year, wait for those BMW built with those parts to be recalled in a few years.

And as you can see, I did not single out any brand, Benz, lexus, Audi, BMW, all in the same basket.
You know why? Because nothing is perfect in this World, not you, not me, not your BMW, not my Audi.
If you have some driving experience, and depending on your tastes, and "the seat of your pants", and assuming you can make your own judgements and decision, than you can tell which brand or which car in a brand appeals to you.
For example, I absolutely love the Z8, probably not the best car ever built, but damn that thing is sexy.
