In the meantime, let's all just enjoy the gorgeuous Audi vehicles we drive. We are all very lucky to have some of the most sophisticated and beautiful cars in the world. I know I count my blessings every day. I love my Audi.

Really, who cares if someone doesn't like Audi? We're entitled to our own opinion. And since 'BMW's stupidity has strengthened our love for Audi instead of weakened it, who cares what he says?

It makes no diffrence to us lucky Audi drivers and the huge success of the company.

The more we respond to his inane stupidity, the more he'll just come back with a brand new slew of unfounded nonsense.

But yeah, Audi is quite an impressive comany indeed. I hadn't realized just how well it has been scoring in sales, reliability, and safety. Go Audi!!!

I actually never had a problem with BMW, but I may change my mind. It seams that so many BMW fans are depressed, obsessive, mentally-challenged losers. Yuck!

Yes, BMW is an idiot. I totally agree. But I think you are missing the point about his strong dislike of Audi. His main claim over and over again is 'Why would you buy an Audi that will be an old model in 2, 3, 4...etc. years time'.

Because BMW is most probably from Asia, he has a different mentality (Not trying to be racist, but this is what I have found) toward new cars. Many people over there always go for the latest thing out, and this includes cars. Given the choice between a 2004 3-Series, or a post-Bangle 2005 3-Series, most would choose the 05 model, not because they liked it any more, but because it was the newer car.

BMW just doesn't get that many people don't mind if there car has been superceeded, or that it isn't the very latest shape.

I mean, if car consumers were so worried that their new car was going to replaced by a new model, and therefore theoretically 'out-dated', no one would ever buy a car.

.. to 60 MPH.

That is, when you are making a proper comparison. A BMW 5 Series wagon with all-wheel drive gets to 60 MPH at about the same time as an Audi A6 Avant quattro.

A 2-wheel drive BMW 5 Series sedan gets to 60 in about the same as a 2-wheel drive Audi A6.

But many comparisons pit a 2 wheel drive BMW 5 Series against an all-wheel drive Audi A6. The BMW will always have the best speed and stopping scores due to its weight advantage. The Audi would also have the same advantage if the comparisons were reversed.

They are actually quite different cars in terms of drivetrain, so it comes down to a consumer choice. The BMW is the better two-wheel car since it's rear-wheel drive, and is very well tuned towards that dynamic. But BMW's X-Drive is heavy, a little clumsy, and not very sporty.

The Audi's quattro on the other hand is lighter than the X-Drive, is faster, and is generally a far more sophisticated technology. However, Audi's FrontTrak front-wheel drive, although the best in the industry, will still never match BMW's rear-wheel advantage.

In the end the cars often appeal to different people. The BMW is a fantastic dry-season sports car, but the Audi is the superior all-season sports car, with a higher level of safety and utility.

The A6 8 cylinder only comes in quattro, while the BMW 5 Series only comes in rear-wheel drive. So a direct drivetrain comaprison is not possible.

The Audi is a slightly heavier car when the drivetrains are similar. This is due to the A6's extra front and side impact technology, and also due to BMW's limited use of aluminum in the front.

In general, the BMW favored slightly better with two-wheels, while the Audi won by a slight margin when the cars both had all-wheel drive.

Overall, the cars are very similar in terms of straight-ahead power. The BMW handles better with two-wheels, while the Audi handles better with four.

The BMW will get uprated engines next year. Audi will get uprated engines the following year.

So performance should stay close.

Yeah the S4 cabriolet has got to be the most practical convertible in the world. Tons of power, all-wheel drive, seats four people, ski sack, and killer looks. I sometimes go to a ski resort in the morning, and then go surfing in the afternoon. All in an A4 convertible!

And I love the new look of Audi. The previous gen cars were beautiful, but have become a touch too understated. So the change is a welcome one.

I've seen lots of new A4s and A6s on the road now (they're selling like hotcakes here in LA). They look amazing on the road. I saw a new A4 in my rearview mirror and was compelled to get out of the way. Mean looking cars!

These new Audis have just as much presence on the road as the new BMWs and Mercs (although BMW obviously failed in the taste department).

Other than the new A4 and A6, another stunning car I have noticed lately is the redesigned Mercedes CLS500 Coupe. It's gorgeous, at least from a profile view. That narrow, sloping window line is soooo cool. A sharp contrast from the rest of their somewhat dull lineup (with the exception of the CL Coup and SLK).

Yeah, the new 3 Series is obviously going to be a big hit. But it certainly won't do too much damage to the new A4. Both cars have been getting fantastic reviews.

I recently test drove an Audi A4 2.0T. It's an incredible car. Extremely fast and nimble. Much more dynamic and powerful than even my heavily tuned 215hp 1.8T B5 A4 (I mostly drive a B6 3.0 cab).

Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm seeing a big rise in Audi popularity these past few months here in LA.

I just passed something like 5 new Audis on my way to work. The new A4 does look fantastic on the street, same with the A6. I spoke to a new A4 owner the other day. He was telling me all the smiles he's been getting. The new A4 seems to be the hot car of the moment.

This will no doubt calm down now that the new A4 is such a hit and is becoming a more common car.

A co-worker is also seriously looking at the new 3.2 A4 Avant quattro. I'm taking him to Beverly Hills Audi this weekend. He'll probably pick one up the same day.

I'm sure you'll be blown away by the A4 as well.

Nobody pays attention to him anymore. He has done more damage to BMW than any Audi fan could, all the while making Audi look great in the process. Now he's critisizing Audi's that don't exitst! Hilarious and sad at the same time.

Anyway, yeah. Audi's rock, especially the new ones.

Audi has hit record sales last year internationally, and has already reached record sales so far this year. It has grown steadily over the past 5 years, well on its way to selling 1 million units per year before the end of the decade.

This year Audi has reached record sales again internationally. Also this year, it has outsold BMW and Mercedes in many markets during its first quarter, including the all-important Europe. This is a first for Audi. It's a total breakthrough. There are no signs of Audi's incredible success slowing down either.

Audi is an unstoppable machine at this point.

Personally, I would be happy if Audi did not reach #1 in luxury sales internationally, just so I could feel like my choice was unique.

But it looks like Audi will continue to break new records. I am seeing more and more of the new A4 and new A6 on the road every day. It's becoming a rather common occurance.

It's good times for Audi and their drivers!

Because the original A4 was launched at an unusual time (Several years after its next model: the A6), Audi was faced with a special problem when updating their brand during the years 2005 and 2006.

Unlike BMW, which has their 3 major models (3 Series, 5 Series, and 7 Series) redesigns scheduled over 3 consecutive years, Audi's A4, A6, and A8 fall under a different schedule. Although the A6 and A8 update one after another (2004 and 2005), the A4 was not due for a major update until 2008.

Because the B6 A4 was to receive a facelift in 2005 just like all the other models, Audi decided to go a step further and drastically update the A4's engines and suspension so that it could be more competitive with the forthcoming BMW E90 3 Series. The changes were so dramatic that Audi decided to name it a new platform (B7), despite it technically still being based on a B6. Anyone who has driven both the B6 and B7 can attest to the B7 feels like a completely new car, hence the new platform designation.

In addition, facelifts often happen in mid-year here in North America due to safety laws. Both the BMW 3 Series and the Mercedes C class were updated in mid model year as well, and without announcing it to American consumers beforehand. It is a standard policy that consumers not be informed of updates due the nature of car business economics (consumers would always hold off, thereby messing up quarterly projections).

The exact same thing happened with the 2005.5 A4 facelift. Unfortunately, since the facelifeted A4 was so dramatic, it immediately devalued the 2005 B6 A4. Although a common occurrence, this special update may have ticked off some buyers (like our immature career-whiner 'BMW'). But this is unfortunately standard practice.

The new A4 is indeed a special car. It is the ultimate development and perfection of the B6 platform. This is why it has received such incredibly positive press. Reviewers have been showering this car with endless praise. Audi also now can stay very competitive as the new BMW 3 hits the streets.

Audi is stuck having to be very creative with the A4 since it debuts at such an unusual time. So expect more dramatic facelifts during the A4's mid-life.

On a related note, inside word has the new B8 A4 (which will be revealed in 2007) to be an absolutely remarkable car. Power, handling, and refinement are expected to set new levels in its class.
