Memorial Day is upon us. Summer has started even if the calendar says it doesn't happen until mid-June. BBQ's are getting readied to be fired up, steaks and burgers and potato salads and all the fixings you can imagine are going to be spread out across tables across the country and friends and family will come together to enjoy good food, good times and good memories. My family will be hosting a BBQ as well, if you are in the area feel free to drop by.
As one of three days throughout the year dedicated to remembering those who have served and those who continue to serve, Memorial Day stands as a day to be grateful and reflect on the the things that have made this nation great.
Which got me thinking...
A friend of mine out in California recently finished restoring a 1965 Shelby Mustang GT350 which he sent some pictures of. Mike is like the rest of us, a true car nut. But he is also one heck of a musician (
www.fulltone.com), and his passion for music has led him to build a company that has given him the ability to pursue his passion for cars.
The Mustang pictured here is just one of his cars, he also has a Porsche 911 Turbo (964) and he has a sensible side as well as the Lexus in the background is in fact the Hybrid version. (Who said German and Japanese can't get along???)
Check out the pictures below, but in doing so reflect back on what car or cars in your early years led you to become passionate about cars. The Mustang was a little before my time, but from that muscle car era the Plymouth Superbird was another car that always was on the "got to have" list.
As I grew a little older the Datsun/Nissan Z-Cars were always on the short list as well of cars I just swore I would drive when I got older.
We are here because we love cars. So why not tell the rest of us what cars from your automotive past still ignite that passion the burns today. And take a look at the pictures of the Mustang GT350 my friend restored, it is awesome.
