Can It Be? New Ford Escape Nav System Schools BMW, Lexus, Acura And ALL Others?
Last week, 001 and 00k were caught up in the insanity of American Idol finals during the 2009 Ford Escape Press Event.

Ford has been a sponsor of the show since the beginning so they were able to wrangle us and other members of the press some tickets to the finals.

It was definitely exciting even though my guy didn't win (David A.) but the real excitement was seeing the first hand demo of the new navigation system that fully integrates the Microsoft SYNC technology.

Being a tech guy I normally don't get blown away by demoes, unless of course Steve is giving one, but this one was VERY impressive.

To say that this new system schools BMW, Lexus, Acura, Mercedes, Audi, etc., etc., etc., would be a HUGE understatement.

NOTHING on the market today even comes close to what capabilities are offered on this new Escape.

At ANY price.

And this system will be making its way into every new Ford/Lincoln/Mercury from this point forward.

Don't take my word for it.

Just watch our EXCLUSIVE video demo yourself and you WILL be blown away and envious!

Because it's not in YOUR car.

And you WILL want it!

I especially loved how it can instantly survey where you're at and find the cheapest gas prices and routes you to that station.

And the messaging functionality is a Godsend.

Ford = innovation

Leaving the others behind...

But Ford has the exclusive for now.

Give them credit for being first

The best nav system on the planet won't make me buy a Ford.

ugh...i had a hard time watching that video. very boring btw but i must admit that the gas station search is very, very clever. definitely a nice perk to brag about it. other than that, infiniti's sysytem still looks better to me

Yea, funny you would say school BMW and other companies with poor systems. Infiniti has the best nav out now, so maybe you should say that it schools infiniti.

Acura had the best system up until this one...Acura still has a better quality screen but it does not have the richness of features.

Why did I get deboosted? When I was at the BMW dealer, they told me that instead of buying the BMW equipped with Nav, I should just spend $300 to purchase the portable nav they sell at Mini. THey stated that it was far superior then the one in their cars

Acura may regain it's #1 position in your eyes when the new TL appears, I hear it's gonna have a hard drive along with the traffic, weather, and zagat rating for restaurants and some other nifty features (not sure the rest of the car will be that great).

Funny, I always was told that Acura/Honda screen graphics (navi map displays) needed to be updated but the basics were very good...

Was the A/C on while you filmed this? I guess one of the vents was blowing air right on the mic, right? How annoying... Anyways, great Nav system, but it still wouldn't make me buy a Ford.

The tech blogs (Wired, Engadget) said awhile ago that Microsoft is contemplating that Sync would show targeted advertisements in your car – essentially billboards in your car that change per location on the screen. I hope this isn’t true. Think of the lawsuits if it caused an accident. Sync looks good now since it’s simple and uncluttered. Advertisements would ruin the experience.
