What warrants their pick of the S5 as a top road trip vehicle? The S5's "performance , comfort and slick European style" helped the S5 stand out from other performance vehicles. We think they forget to mention one think about the S5 , its road presence- it would be one of our top choices for road presence with its flashy design and not to be missed LED headlamps.

The S5 is a great car from Audi. Sure, it may not be as fast around a track as BMW's 335i, but the S5 can accelerate faster to 60 mph (4.5 seconds) it costs more than the 335i ($6K) and it is much more exclusive. The fuel economy does suck, but the RS5 should turn this already capable S5 into a high-performance monster with light weight materials, more horsepower & torqu and a DSG transmission.

a comparably optioned S5 and 335i are about the same pricea loaded S5 is about 57 grand and the 335xi not loaded but with the alot of the same stuff is about 56 grand add 19 inch wheels and a body kit its over 60 grand, and why you would think that you being wrong and saying the S5 costs more than the 335i would be a selling point.....

I believe the 0-60 time was 5.1 or somewhere around there.

That's Audi's factory time. Most tests average at 4.7 seconds.

Actually, no, that's not even Audi's factory time. That's slower. And Audi posts slow factory times.

Sounds like a great road trip car to me, similar to the 335i in that way. Nice performance but not too edgy, with room for two adults and plenty of luggage.
