New Car: 2009 Ford Ka

New Car: 2009 Ford Ka
The waiting is over! Ford’s thrilling new Ka has broken cover – and here it is in all its glory.

The newcomer will replace the original 12-year-old Ka, and shares its underpinnings and engines with the Fiat 500. What’s more, it’s being built alongside the hugely successful Italian model at Fiat’s plant in Tychy, Poland.

But the Ka – which is due to hit showrooms towards the end of 2008 – is much more than a simple re-skin of the 500. Privately, Ford says that its engineers are working hard to ensure that the new Ka can match the current model’s composure and pin-sharp handling, while offering greater refinement.

Just great we wait two more years atleast until this or a copy of it gets here while Honda has had the Fit her for about four years. The Fit will be getting a next generation by the time this gets here. What a disappointment.

We will get the Ford Fiesta (Verve) by 2010 which will compete with the Fit. This is smaller than both those cars.

Well it's a move in right direction for Ford. I only see the one pic of the front.

They have a lot of nice Fords in Europe and Asia but we never see them here. Same with Chevy.

I would add that Ford and Chevy need to create some strong brand names for the small car segment. Honda and Toyota seem to have the venerable Civic and Corolla nameplates that sell. These guys need something like that. I don't think Ford Fiesta should return.

This massive trout-grill design treatment that seems to be the current trend is getting ridiculous.

Maybe Ford will call the next Focus the Escort just like they did with the 500/Taurus. lol.

Doesn't look as charming as the current model, but it looks very attractive, should be a hit when it makes it here.
