This is Ford’s 40th anniversary edition of the ’68 Mustang made famous in the Steve McQueen movie “Bullit”. The Bullitt may not fit into the supercar category, but it has plenty of hp and torque that will put a large grin on many people's faces. Plus, the sound of the exhaust note is classic. Listening to the Bullitt rumble through the concrete canyons of San Francisco immediately brought back memories of the movie's car chase.

The 2008 Bullitt has a 3.73:1 final drive ratio, more aggressive shocks and struts than a stock GT, a strut tower brace, upgraded brakes, engine recalibration, open element air intake, new H-pipe, and new mufflers. It is rated at 315 hp and 325 lbs-ft whereas the standard GT is 300/320. It's 0-60 time is 0.3 seconds quicker than a stock GT and its top speed (151) is higher.

Regardless of what people think of this car, Ford is doing exactly the right think in making so many different special versions of the car. They need to keep people and the media interested in talking about the car. Chrysler should have been doing this all along with cars like the 300 and the Charger/Magnum.
