Who Is The Biggest HOTTIE In Everyday Mid-Sized Sedans

While it is true we all love the heated debates as to which sports car is the best, the truth is most of us drive cars that more closely resemble family cars than those which resemble sports cars.  The manufacturers recognize that fact, and although not every offering is a hit for the car enthusiast, there are certainly some cars out there that can excite the soul while handling normal day to day activities.

Mazda and Nissan are about to unleash redesigned versions of their mid-size family cars, roles filled by the Accord and Camry whose sales number into the hundreds of thousands of units per year.  Not everyone of us is Accord or Camry material, and Nissan and Mazda recognize this and are attempting to attract the car enthusiasts with the Mazda 6 and Nissan Maxima.

Look at the advertising that has gone into these cars, Mazda markets their offering under the "Zoom Zoom Zoom" logo, and Nissan proudly displays 4DSC (4 Door Sports Car) on the window of the Maxima.

But do they live up to the hype, or are they just another alternative to the Accord and Camry.  Optioned correctly, you can get the Camry or Accord with "sporty" options, including a manual transmission with certain Accords.  Of course neither Toyota or Honda market these cars as aggressively to the enthusiast as Mazda and Nissan do, but can they fill the role?

To help answer that question, we turn it over to you, Who is the biggest HOTTIE in the everyday mid-size sedan segment?

The G35 is def a midsize car. As far as the comment for the car being FAR from a Hottie, I totally Disagree. The G35 looks way better then the Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, and even the new Nissan Maxima.

As far as design the G35 ranks right up there with the BMW 3-series 4-door, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and the Lexus IS.

Okay everyone, the key word for this thread is HOTTIE! Not, which car do I think best serves my family's needs or which one gives Aunt Lucy the most room to fit her extra-plus-sized derriere! HOT-TIE!!!

I would agree, the passat does look better, and I'm sure drives better, and has more feel and more driver oriented. the topline camry se with the full package doesn't look bad either, but without the package kinda looks bland. The maxima is wierd from the pics, but I'll save judgement until I see it up close. I think the 6 is the best looking out of the four for now.

1) Mazda (like the edgy side of things now)
2) Nissan Maxima (owned 3 and had zero problems)
3) Accord (like the front end instead of the old bird beak look)
4) Camry (had a 2007 that had too many squeeks/rattles)

I think the 2009 Mazda is a welcome mid-size addition to the busy center stack Accord and odd front-end Camry's grill. (BTW Honda: What was your design team smoking when they created that UGLY, nasty looking "iron-man" grill on the new 2009 Pilot SUV).

Ok so we are judging by looks alone I suppose, since the Mazda 6 is not available yet. On looks alone I give this order to midsize cars:

1. Mazda 6
2. Volkswagen Passat
3. Nissan Maxima
4. Ford Fusion
5. Chevy Malibu
6. Honda Accord
7. Toyota Camry

This is my opinion based on the looks alone. The Mazda is by far the sportiest midsize family sedan I have seen so far in this segment. The Passat is clean lines and sporty with the spoiler on the rear. The Fusion is instantly recognizable and from what I hear nice to drive as is the Maxima. The Honda is normal and the Camry is so so. Friend's mother has an '07 Camry and has been plagued with quality issues (transmission broke, paint is fading, 2 recalls, and squeaks and rattles in the dash) so knowing all of this it has dropped to the bottom, not to mention it is not sporty looking.

1. Altima (sportiest in class, Spacious, i like the design and good value)

2. Camry (Okay, base camry is normal but the sporty version (SE here in Middle East) is good. Actually Camry is quite a nice and clean design only front horrendous grille ruin it a bit)

3. Mazda 6 (I like it's design the most but in all other things it trails the leaders)

4. Accord (Everything is great except i don't like the rear 3/4th design. Please cut it and paste last Accord's rear end and i'll pick it over all others)

My answer would be no.

Ill-proportioned, fussy styling, bland surfacing, they have nothing on European mid-size offerings.

I think the Mazda has the most potential, but then that's just an over-styled version of the world-market 6.

Congratulations on a pointless article. The Maxima does not compete directly with the Accord, Camry, 6. That would be the Altima's job. It has been for awhile now since the Altima was beefed up in the early 00's.

The Maxima is fading because it has no identity, it costs more than a loaded Accord or Camry, offers a little more hp, not much more room, and it's still FWD.

Oh and you forgot the completely redesigned Malibu in this segment. Which to me is very close tie for first with the new Altima. So for me it would be the following (given this article used the proper cars)

1) Malibu LTZ
2) Altima 3.5SE (not a fan of CVT)
3) 6
4) Camry
5) Accord
