Spied: 2010 Porsche 911 GT3 RS
As Porsche prepares to unveil a newly facelifted version of its 911, our spies have caught the next evolution of the hardcore GT3 RS model testing at the Nurburgring.

The new GT3 RS is expected to go on sale next year, while the updated version of the standard 911 will be released within the next few months. Styling around the front and rear bumper has been subtly modified, and this lightweight, track-focused Porsche is now expected to offer around 450bhp; that’s 40bhp more than the current car.

The updated standard 911 - which Autocar.co.uk will have first official pictures of this Friday (6 June) - is expected to use new direct-injection engines. However, it’s not yet clear whether the GT3 RS will follow suit because its engine block has traditionally been based on the unit from the Porsche GT1 racing car.

POS I think not.

You on the other hand...ehh.. lets not go there.

Porsche is a wealthy company who has a good history in the automotive industry. If they were such POS I don't think anyone would be buying them.

You call a Civic a POS but you also call a Porsche a POS. You obviously don't drive anything so shut up and when/if you have something decent to say then speak.

You and your different usernames aka alter ego's are getting annoying. Only teenagers use "POS".

Autocar will not be the only site to have the 997 facelift images as Porsche willlift the press embargo on their update.

I doubt this is the GT3 RS because it is rare that images of the RS comes out before the GT3. Historically the GT3 debuts several months earlier than the RS. Dating back to the 996 GT3 MKII, there were spy pictures of that before the 996 GT RS. The same goes for the first 997 GT3.

I am sure this is the GT3 facelift utilizing a similar wing to the current RS. Even the wing doesn't look as wide as the wide-bodied RS.

Dang only if i could afford one... :(

Anyone care to donate to the "I Need a Porsche Fund" ?? :P

Loled at POS design, hah.... thats why it defies logic, people said that design won't work, but yet Porsche pulls a rabbit out of the hat and shows em what for.

Plz no fanboism, so far so good

Porsche's true performance engines are inside the turbo/GT2/GT3 models, which use a common engine block that is completely different than the standard Carrera/S/Targa engine.

The turbo/GT2 engine is nothing more than a GT3 engine with a turbo system attached. This engine is made to last and last and last - this is the engine that runs in Le Mans and the one you really want if you want to really benefit from Porsche's racing heritage.
