REVEALED: Audi A7 4 Door Coupe

The new Audi A7 will set new standards for performance, elegance and quality in the fast-emerging luxury four-door coupe market, according to the German manufacturer.

The four-door coupe is due in 2010 as part of Audi’s new-model programme, which aims to increase the firm’s sales by an ambitious 50 per cent over seven years by introducing 17 new models.

The A7 is Audi’s rival for the Mercedes-Benz CLS, BMW’s forthcoming 8-series and next year’s Jaguar XJ replacement. It will be armed with a formidable array of technology, heralding what design boss Stefan Sielaff describes as a “new direction” in design and interior quality.

Thanks to Cdoke for the tipoff

This doesn't reveal anything. It's just an S5 photoshop.

There is no such thing as a 4dr coupe. A coupe has two doors, period.

technically, he's not right. Nowhere in the definition of "coupe" does it require 2 doors. Coupes commonly have 2 doors instead of 4, however coupe also refers to 2+2 seating (a la CLS) and the lack of a B pillar in the roofline. According to Wikipedia, the Rover P5 was the first 4 door coupe built from 1962-1973.

In fact the SAE classifies a car as a coupe based on interior volume. Any vehicles with less than 33 cu ft interior volume is a coupe and any two door above that is classified as a two-door sedan.

So no, a coupe technically doesn't have two doors. A coupe isn't technically anything besides whatever the manufacturer wants to call it.

This is what used to be a "4-door hardtop".
That was a good name for it.
But somewhere in the last couple decades they passed a law that you can't use old terms no matter how useful they are.
Thus, you can't call a station-wagon a station-wagon anymore (its a crossover or SUV or some BS)
You have to call a passenger van a "mini-van" even though they are a ton heavier than the old passenger vans (nothing "mini" about them.
And you have to call a 4-door hardtop a 4-door coupe.
What will marketing think of next?

these are clearly photoshops 001, have u been drinking? there is even one of its as a cabrio- aside from this, the A7 will be one hot automobile. Just picture it as an S5 in sleek four door coupe form.

I don't understand. The CLS is basically an E-Class sedan with a low roof. (I don't think much of 4-door coupes either.) Why would the CLS have all of these handling, wind/tire/road/engine noise and transmission problems when the E-Class doesn't?

The CLS doesn't have any of these problems, TheBoss is delusional.

there is no such thing as a 4 door coupe dammit !!

before you know it camry will have a sleek/low roof line and call it a family sports coupe.

What's' that rustling sound? Oh yeah, its just Toyota's lawyers sending off the trademark application for "family sports coupe" or Camry FSC !!! :)

The final product will look worlds better than that cls thing. Not that it's hard to design something that look better than that thing.

Audi needs to price this A7 at about $35,000 to sell some cars.

265hp V6 anyone? I guarantee that this car will get the same old, tired, underpowered 256hp V6 that Audi seems content to pass on from generation to generation.

No, it will actually get a 400hp twin-turbocharged V8.

And the 3.2L V6 will be replaced by the end of the year. Perhaps not in the A4 (though I hope so), but the refreshed A6 will get a supercharged V6 with about 300hp for the '09 model year, coming out in November/December.

The only place where this thing was spied driving was on the information super highway...the only highway I could care less about.

I'd order mine with the twin-turbo TDI and 7-speed DSG.
Except they're too impractical (and you can't haul dogs in them).
Give me an A6 TDI S-Line with DSG and a huge sunroof like the Jetta Sport Wagon and I'll be happier than a dog with 2 dicks!

That's an A6 Avant "Station Wagon" in the wish-list above.
Although the new A4 Avant might be big enough........ or Q5?
