First spy images of new Subaru-Toyota sports car

Toyota and Subaru only confirmed in April the joint-development of a new affordable sports car and now we have the first images of actual prototypes caught while testing in a secret location in the UK.

The new car will be sold by both Toyota and Subaru, although several reports claim the Toyota version will be exclusive to the Japanese market while the Subaru model will be a global version.

In a previous interview, Subaru of America product manager Dominick Infante revealed that Toyota will largely be responsible for the styling of the car while Subaru will handle most of the engineering.

Really Interesting, Though Far From Pretty... Looks Very Promising As An Affordable Driver's Coupe

@DaHarder

Its a mule based on the legacy.

And it means that it may not look anything like that. Kind of like how the Mercedes SLC is on a Viper mule. The mules look more like a Viper than what the final SLC will look like.

You assume to much! I wouldn't be surprised if this isn't the next legacy face lift.

What I've heard is a 2.5L NA RWD, and a 2.0L Turbo AWD.

Well even the Legacy is due for a design. Current car debuted in late 2003 as 2004 model.
So i won't be surprised if that's the all new 2009 Legacy instead of the claimed sports car mule.

@JUGNU

Why would subaru test the next gen legacy in a 2dr form? There has never been a 2dr legacy.

Hey, it has RECARO seats, wonder if they will make it to production.

That POS is SO UGLY!
The front is pure Legacy, but the rear-door area looks like a hill-billy with money wanted a car that looked like his parents' Chrysler LeBaron and Mercury Monarch from the mid 70's

This must be photo-shopped ... you can't build a car that fugly.
