Mercedes C320 CDI review - should this car come to the US?

The C-class has been a success for Mercedes in the mid-sized premium sedan market since its inception 15 years ago in 1993.

Back then you could count on stiff competition between Germany’s trio of luxury brands - Mercedes, BMW and Audi - and cars like the BMW 3-series and Audi 80 (the precursor to today's A4) were the C-class' biggest threats.

Coupled with the increasing niche segments being dreamed up by auto executives around the globe, the latest model has even more to compete with.

The C-Class has featured diesel engines in its line-up for almost as long as it has been around, but the 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel our test car sported has only been available for a few years.

How about telling us WHY this car is a "piece of junk". Furthermore you claim you "drove" it throughout Europe. As what? A rental? C320 CDI's are extremely difficult to find as rentals and very expensive to rent. Something tells me you're bullshitting...

I hope MB brings it here. Since it's a CDI, I think it's only 42 state legal. I'm clueless about automotive engineering, so I'm wonder how hard could it be to possibly add urea filtering (blutec, blumotion, etc.) to their CDI (common rail direct injection, right?) engines. Anyone?

Car Maker in "Profit-Maximising" Shocker.

Today Mercedes announced that in fact it was not in the car making business to make people happy, but rather to make money. Local moron huu76 said; 'It's disgraceful. How dare these people try and make money when they should be spending lots of money to make unnecessary pollution-reducing equipment which isn't needed in most markets".
In other news, today Toyota announced that in fact it made cars to save baby seals and restore the ozone layer. The fact it doesn't make an IS hybrid even though it would be very fuel efficient and have low emissions was not important, a spokesperson said, while standing in front of a 5.7 litre Lexus LX.
