Well, so much for the common Autospies belief that Toyota just does not have the product to sell to European tastes. Oh wait...let me guess...the survey was done exclusively to Americans living in the UK, France, and Germany. Right.

It's a reliability survey, essentially. Toyota still sell far less than Ford, Vauxhall/Opel or VW.

No, but the source is JD Power. So much about credibility.

I cannot believe JD Power started with the brainwashing in Europe now after leaving hundreds of millions of victims in US.

The Prius will no doubt end up in a museum in the future, it's an icon.

I just can't see the Prius ever in a car museum. Maybe a science museum, but not a car museum. It's bland, it's no fun, and it's rather ugly. It's not going to be a sought-after collectable car in the future.

After reading all the snobby and critical European car mags this is a surprising result. Always poo-pooing the American auto consumer as unimaginative and undiscerning about what makes a good auto, you'd think Europeans would pick something not so... pedestrian.

Europeans didn't pick the Prius. JD Power SAYS they did. Big, big diference.

That's what THEY say. I am "Star" and I did that survey too and my results are totally different. Add the fact that I have more credibility than JD Power and here is your answer. Prius SUCKS!

I'm no Prius lover myself. A technically effective but wholly dull ride, it is. I'm just surprised that the result shows something no different than what American drivers value. The Euro mags would have us think that the typical European driver wants a lot more.

But, why would J.D. Power want to make up this result anyway?

Politic...pushing the idea of Hybrids being desirable(even if they are not). I don't know why people accept these things so easy. What we are talking about here is Prius owners(the freakiest people on earth) saying that they are fully satisfied with their car. I mean, these people will say that even if their car will catch fire or break down every day on the way to work. Is just the type of people they are.
These surveys are wrong to the core.

The only type of survey that can quantify actually something is the one done by ADAC which measures the number of break downs cars have. Surprisingly(not for me) the results show that Japanese cars are much more likely to break down in comparison with a German car. Those are facts.
The opinions owners have about their cars cannot be considered facts. They are just opinions.

I think part of what gave the Prius the advantage in this survey was its low emission rating. Even Europeans are making a big deal out of CO2 emissions nowadays and those people who own a Prius on the Old Continent obviously praised it for being a low emissions vehicle.

perhaps most satisfying to environmentalists. that would make sense. but certainly not to ANYONE who remotely enjoyed DRIVING.

That's the point. The person who buys a Prius does so for a purpose. They buy one as an appliance to shuttle them from point A to point B with as little gas and involvement as possible. Hence my comment. There is only one blender in my house. I use it to blend, therefore it is the most satisfying blender in my house.
