Land Rover 7-Seater SUV coming in 2012

An odd time to be planning a seven-seater SUV but according to AutoCar, Land Rover will be adding a new seven-seat model by 2012. Sources say the project is internally known as ‘Project L486’ and that the new model will be based on the Freelander platform which will be heavily modified with an extended wheelbase to make room for seven-seats.

The seven-seater model will be more of a road/crossover model unlike the Discovery. The car will be based on the four-wheel-drive system of the Freelander along with the engine and transmission also shared from the Freelander.

If putting two of your kids in the trunk belted to a seat that's not actually a seat. Those who have seen one of those older Land Rovers know what i'm talking about. I haven't paid much attention after I started liking the Range Rover.

not that im saying LR makes bad cars...no, they make the best suvs, but i struggle to see what you mean by practical-besides the car having a lot of space...or was that it?

Nice vehicle. Will likely be a hybrid vehicle; diesel w/electric. I doubt that it will have a problem "off road". For those of you who have NOT been in a Land Rover off road -- They are the REAL DEAL. Don't follow a Land Rover with your civic, you will be sorry...

LandRover has such a shitty rep.Each unit they sell has a built in button to push for service department return scheduling appointments. Also the Nav map to the dealer is autmatically displayed.
