I have a pic of the Lexus cause it's the only car everybody envy's. I didn't even like Lexus till I meet autospies, and the jealously it brung.

why would bmw have put in a photoshopped picture on an official advert for the new 7-series?

I notice they went to a studded LED look (much like the R8) Versus their traditional Rings. Hmmm its looking good so far

nice..looking forward to the new 7 series. BTW to all lexus fans...in asia lexus seem to be a bit of failure due to the same models offered with a toyota badge. I think they are having a difficult time luring customers to buy lexus. So far 1 dealer opened in my country and all of the models sold were LX460. However, toyota is offering the same model under celsior model...we cant get that toyota image out of our head...:(

celsior is the old LS, the current LS is not sold as celsior--I know I live in Tokyo and have see the old celsior very regularly, although the new 600hL is quite common here, much more than any other lexus.

That teaser looks great. Beautiful front lighting, looks mean and modern. Love that they're doing the CS front turn signals.

Screw the 4th of July, I'm more excited for 7/07 to FINALLY see this car.

You LS460 has the worst brakes out of all the cars that ROAD and TRACK has listed in their road test summary. The BMW 7 series has far better braking performance that the LS. I guess luxury is more important to Lexus than safety. How else can you explain the LS460's horrible brakes?

If I were in a situation that required emergency braking, The LS460 is the last car that I would want to be in. If that's what you call superiority then I feel sorry for you.

Even the Europeans stated that the Lexus LS was much safer than their Mercedes. I feel sorry for you when your driving 80mph plus and your un-reliable time machine wheels and axle falls off in street

The Ls460 needs good pre-collision system because the brakes are horrible.

Nobody at Autobild claimed that the Lexus LS is safer than the Mercedes S-Class. They're both extremely safe vehicles. The LS only had a "slight edge" because of that collision warning system - which apparently in practice is more gimmicky and unreliable than effective, according to a review I've read from Auto Motor und Sport and a customer complaint on the Edmunds boards. That review between the LS and S-Class from Autobild has been so overhyped and torn out of proportions by Lexus fanboys like you for the sole purpose of making the LS look better than the S-Class. Both are good cars, live with that fact.

actually, all that JC said that the "build quality" and levels of fit and finish in the LS were comparable to Bentleys and RR's.

Diana died because of a secret plot by the Queen. I gotta wait to see the real thing. I like the LED Rings but I am a little worried about the car itself. The grills look huge and the CS lights while cool on the concept may not translate very well into the real design. Lets face it BMW has had some design mishaps the last few years. I really hope they don't screw this up. Nobody wants a fast great handling yet really ugly car.

BMW has the best design in thw world. That's why everybody started to Have Bangel butts on there car. Also the I drive everybody critize it but now all the car company have some sort of I drive system in place. BMW Rocks. I am Getting a 745Li

99.9 percent of BMW drivers have lower limits(driving skill) than their car's do.

I have 3 BMWs in my garage, and I love them all. Does that make me a BMW fan? Your call on that one. But sadly, BMW hasn't made anything I've wanted for years. The bad news started in 2002 with the current 7 series. We all new it back then. Then came the ugly-as-sin 5-er. Mr. Bangle helped to explain why the cars we thought were butt-ugly, were in fact complex and interesting pieces of rolling sculpture. Um, right :-/

The 6? Good news is that it's not hideous like the 5, but precious few people call it gorgeous. To my eyes, it's jut not interesting, nor attractive.

The 3 series, BMW's bread and butter, was affected least by BMW's new "styling language". Why? Well, BMW is a very well-managed company. They have been consistently profitable even in the worst of times over the past decades. They were in the black the year after they wrote off billions, and then paid a consortium to take Rover off their hands. They also sacked key executives that year. Pretty impressive. So a company that smart knows not to mess up a 3 series by making it look like the ugly-duckling 5. To put it in humorous terms, the 3 series is the best looking, because it has the least amount of spam in it ;-)

There is no doubt that BMW cars, when put on the track in the hands of a skilled driver, shine, head and shoulders above the competition. Their handling is impeccable. But it's been 6+ years since I've been on the track, so I don't aspire for a car that distinguishes itself that way.

So, am I excited by the new 7 series? Nah. Sorry. BMW appeals to a younger crowd than aged 48-year-olds like me. Smart move, too, BMW, because older guys, that would be the traditional BMW cohort, are now becoming less performance orienced, and more comfort and reliability oriented. My current BMWs suit be just perfectly for those purposes.

For those who are interested, the car that has caught my eye is the Audi A5 convertible, which is due out in 2009. Looks good, inside and out. Will likely handle very nicely, though not as well as a BMW when put on a track.
